Title: HK VP9 sale falls through…sucks!!
Post by: kekoa on August 15, 2014, 03:11:25 PM
So I shop around for several days on the inter-webs to find a deal on an HK VP9 and finally I find a killer deal…599.99$ with 20$ shipping  I go through the check out click submit and the site voided my purchase and says contact Gordon Miller about the situation. I do and it is determined that the security code for the my credit card did not input properly, at this point he very aware that I live in Hawaii because we talk about it on the phone. So at the time I "completed" my purchase there were three left, by the time I tried to re-complete my purchase allas, no moa. I contact Gordon again he says he will have some coming in in a few days. OK cool I am stoked because I can still get one. But I get a call from Gordon a few days later saying, "good news there in, bad news it is going to cost you 15$ dollars more". Not bad I think it ain't a deal breaker for me and I order. VP9 ships on August 11th and receive date is August 22nd…huh??? I have only had firearms be shipped to me (well to my FFL) from the mainland within a few days. I am thinking this does not sound right, but I figure lets wait and see. Today I get an email from FedEx that my VP9 arrived in Sacramento but will be shipped back to the place of origin because it was shipped ground and not express, which is required by FedEx when shipping firearms. I call Gordon, he says he did not declare it a firearm and he never does. Some how FedEx figured it out, is what it is, it's their rules. Now Gordon Miller has just said he is done with the sale and no VP9 for me. At this point he says he will refund in full when the gun gets back to him but I got to see the $$ first at this point before I feel sure of things. His site says 209$ restock fee or something like that. I asked point blank, " I will get 100% refund right?" just to be certain. We will see in some days as the handgun is on its way back to South Carolina.

Anyways as you can tell I had to vent on this one. It killed me 'cause it was an awesome deal. Not meant to be I guess. So has anyone dealt with hkspecialistsstore.com before? How was your experience with them? You know I hate to give bad feedback about a business but this experience has been pretty far off target compared to any other firearms purchase I have made. Just a heads up for the boys and ladies (I am sure your out there).

That sucks, you definately should get a 100% refund. It was the shippers fault not yours.

This is one reason why I try my hardest to buy local. Based on your price for the VP9 and fee's it's almost exactly the same as OGC was charging. Paying a little more to buy local ( and wait a little longer) is worth it to me.

Good luck, based on this post I'm not doing business with this place.

For whats its worth, we have them in stock for $649.  Please keep in mind that the 10 round variants are somewhat rare, we ordered ours when the gun was announced by HK.  (It uses P30 mags).  Come see us if you would like one, or good luck in your hunt!  $599 plus $20 ship plus extra $15 plus $40 FFL fee $674.  Our price is $649 plus GET $679.58.  $5.58 more.

Yeah you got a good point there Life and I did contact OGC straight away after finding out this bad news. There is a bit more of a hassle for me because I live outer island, check my thread in the legal and activism section about FFL's needing a permit to acquire for county to county pistol sales.

Yeah, thats been a TOTAL PITA!  And the best part is only Honolulu apparently is demanding it!  But we have to get a pistol permit from the outer island dealer to ship it to them even though they are an FFL!  Unless you come to us physically... or we go to you?  What island are you on?  Get enough interest Ill throw a guy on a plane lol

I'm currently in Ohio and checked several local gun shops for a VP9 and other firearms. From what I can found the average price is $630 not including 7% tax, shipping, and FFL transfer only for handguns. Prices for most handguns and rifles are almost the same as OGC. Common sense is to buy local. So far I only see one used wasr ak47 with eotech for $1250. No Saiga 12. That's crazy. They said Russian ak and saiga are high in demand. Most other misc parts prices are cheaper or the same as online. I decided to order some parts and saved a lot on shipping cost.

Kekoa, really sucks to hear about your bad experience. I got mine from Mike at Cross Creek Guns in Ohio, $594 shipped to Oahu. Add the transfer fee, and it was pretty much the same price as Carter has at OGC. I wish I bought local, but at the time I didn't know when OGC would get theirs (and how much it would cost). I'd certainly try dealing with Carter, but if it's just too unworkable I'd shoot Mike an email. He works out of his house, which means no overhead and very, very reasonable prices. He's got a huge wait list, and he's one of the few dealers that will ship to California, so you will have to wait a long while for the 10rd version. Believe me, it's a great gun and well worth the wait!

Did you check out Cross Creek? Not sure if he has an actual store; I know he operates out of his house so might not do retail sales from his home.

Nice thanks for the offer. I just don't think there would be enough for you to fly over special…bummaz for me. I am working with PD Armory and Design over here to see what they can do, they will contact HPD on Monday. Hopefully one VP9 will stay under the radar long enough for me to pick one early next week.

Oh on Kauai by the way.

Not yet, cross creek location is about 1 hour away. I'm still on the waiting list. But I believe I will buy from OGC when I get back.

Sorry this happen but it was actually shipped fedex express orginally.  Somehow once I got to the bottom of it Fedex thought there was ammo in the box and changed it to ground.
Then they held it up in CA and wouldnt ship it any further and returned it to me.

At any rate we got it back about a week 1/2 later and completely refunded the customer all his money. Fedex the terminal I ship out of knows we ship
firearms Im NOT require to ship handguns express some terminals do this onthers does not. It more a site rule then a Fedex rule. Even more so at the Kninkos. We ship directly out of the fedex terminal.

Carter from OGC knows me and he knows we would refund the all money and we did. Sorry for the confusion
