Go to the "Gun Store" on E.Tropicana, they offer the classes for free. Register for the class online to reserve your spot  :shaka:

I took the frontsight course in Nevada about 4 years ago.  Was 5 days long.  After you complete the course you have 1 year to apply for the permit, and you either have to submit your packet in person there, or pickup the permit in person.  You have to show proficiency in the gun you want to CCW with (you have to bring all the guns you want to CCW there).  Test is simple though, just fire.  You don't even have to hit the target.

The Nevada law changed - all you have to do is qualify with one handgun and your CCW permit will cover all handguns(semi and revolvers)

NRS 202.3657

The Gun Store class is free and just 7mins from the strip, they also help you with the Florida CCW application at the same time :shaka:

Hopefully you get Tony as your instructor, super cool guy who sometimes appears on pawn stars and I believe 20 year + veteran LEO from NY. He will definitely keep you from falling asleep during the 8 hour class. Also if possible you can come in and pre qualify the shooting portion of the test so you don't have to do it after the 8 hour class which ends at round 6pm and you have to use their range which is usually packed with tourist at that time. Shooting part is pretty easy it's pass/fail but you do have to shoot weak side one handed for part of the test. Make sure you make time to get get finger printed and to turn in your CCW application the next day, here is a link to the location and information. Heads up they are only open Monday to Friday 8am-5pm and the application will cost $100 no credit cards also an additional $14 if you need a copy of the fingerprint card so you can use it for the Florida ccw application  :shaka:

You can bring your own firearm to qualify or you can rent one of theirs but you do have to buy ammo from them because they use non lead frangible ammo for their indoor range. I believe I paid around $25 for ammo.

Resurrecting this thread from the dead.

I realize that the Gun Store is popular because it's free, but anyone recommend anywhere else?

I've been at Bass Pro before and seen guys conducting over there and I'm sure there are other locales, but I've heard some good and bad about them.

Anyhow looking to go up in January and figured I might as well look into it.  BTW did all you folks get printed at the police station or somewhere else?

If all your seeking is a permit to carry in Nevada, you can get the Arizona ccw permit and it has reciprocity in Nevada I think. Might have changed.

I ended up using The Gun Store, and it wasn't bad at all. Fingerprints and picture was taken at the place where they issued the license.
Was a local girl from Waipahu that took the prints and photo too.

i took mines at discount firearms on highland drive. they offer it sat and wed. 845 till about 6. 1 day class includes EVERYTHING. bring your own firearm or they will give you a 22r. ammo target eye and ear pro included. I've heard that "the gun store" gives false information. there are a lot of different shops that offer the class. paid $49. when going to the station you can apply for your florida ccw also but some other stuff is needed. utah is a different class. discount firearms teaches it on the first monday of the month. class only no shooting required. $50

I took mine at Front Sight.  Also applied for UT and AZ permit in addition to NV.  Turned my application in at the Nye County Sheriff Dept.  FS prepares the NV application for you so all you do is have the Sheriff Dept take your photo, pay $98.25, exact change only and they mail you your permit in 60 days.  Took all of 5 minutes and I was on my way.

Nevada does allow open carry without a permit, but don't carry a knife with a blade over 3 inches.

FS said NV required a 30 shot CCW firing test.  Clerk at Sheriff Dept told me if I pass the background check they will mail the permit in 60 days.  I just submitted the application on Oct 7 so we shall see.  Got plenty of time to wait since my next planned trip to NV won't be until April.  One thing I did learn at FS is having good night sights and an extended slide release on my Glock would be extremely helpful in combat situations and had those installed after the course.

I received my permit on Oct. 24, only 17 days after submitting the application.

AZ permit is a good one to have.   I applied for both AZ and UT in addition to the NV which I already have.  WA honors UT permit but not AZ and NV.  VA and GA honors AZ and UT permit but not NV.  MN honors NV permit but not AZ and UT.  Florida doesn't honor the AZ, NV, UT permits but I never applied for Florida because I don't plan to ever go there. The instructor at FS said it is good to get permits for as many states as you can but that can get expensive.
