Just want to note that this is a different incident than the Michael Brown one.
This video is the shooting of a Kajieme Powell who seemed to have a suicide-by-cop death wish.
Approaching the cop with a knife and saying "shoot me, shoot me, shoot me" seems like he had a wish to commit suicide. It's unfortunate that he had to get the cops involved.

A person holding a knife within 21 feet is pretty dangerous, even to someone armed with a gun.

The guy was stupid enough to refuse to drop his knife when faced with not one, but two LEOs with firearms! That might mean he was high, mentally ill, or in a frame of mind that's stopping him from being rational.
In other words, the guy who brought the knife to the gun fight was both unpredictable and dangerous.
Just how many times is required for LE to say "Drop the knife!" before they stop the threat? 5? 10? 50?
If a COP says to drop your knife, you don't reply with, "Shoot me!" It's a shame a guy had to die for being stupid, but don't blame the COPs.

There was a similar incident here recently with the crazy lady witha weapon and 2 HPD officers. . Though in this situation they had a tazer, but I think they waited too long to use it. Should've used the tazer earlier, which would have prevented the shooting (which I think is still justified).

well im glad i dont believe in this type of "protect and serve", which by the way is a hilarious statement. if a regular citizen shot a guy with a knife about 10 times and the person was on the GROUND and he or she is still shooting, that person would be in jail for excessive force especially in Hawaii. Its call shoot and reassess, not shoot the guy to death.

Meh... Well from what I seen in the vid, when the cops arrived on scene, the dude still had a hand in his jacket pocket. I am guessing these cops were not psychic and/or did not have time to call Miss Cleo and the psychic friends network to find out what kind of weapon was in his jacket pocket and on him prior to coming on the scene. IMO the cops did not have time to transition to tazers as he was within the 21 foot rule. From what I see, my best guess was shots were fired around 10 feet away. Now do I blame the cops for his death, no. IMO, some need to pull their head out of their ass, because in reality one can't just rush the cops with a knife and say "Shoot me" and expect to hit "restart/refresh" like one of those games like GTA 5.

A Taser is a great tool that undoubtedly has saved countless lives, however, like any tool it has an intended purpose. The Taser also is not as urban legends would lead you to believe 100% effective even when deployed in the best possible circumstances or environment. There are literally hundreds of documented incidents when a Taser has been shown to be ineffective at stopping or incapacitating a subject but they are still in use since it does provide LE with options. I am guessing that you are not in a line of work that places you in situations where you are faced with angry, knife/weapon wielding individuals who given the opportunity will hurt/maim or kill you so I do not take offense to your under educated basis for your argument in regards to trying to Taser the subject in this video. Please watch the video posted about the "safe" distance for a knife attack and you tell me if you would risk your life trying to deploy a Taser on a person motivated to hurt you. Upon arrival the Officers where faced with a subject that presented them with deadly force, aka "the knife", and when given a lawful command to drop said knife he kept approaching them not following the provided guidance.

Tasers, pepper spray and other LTL options are only for non-violent/non-compliance suspects only. Times when the officer needs to subdue or control a suspect who they feel is not an immediate danger but is resisting arrest.
Once a dangerous weapon of any sort is in play, or a suspect is showing violent aggression towards the officer, or any innocent life, LTL are out the window, and firearms are to be used. The officer isn't just trying to protect the lives of people around them, but their own lives as well.
I have seen first hand how ineffective pepper spray and tasers can be against someone who is hyped up on drugs or adrenaline. People can build up tolerances to mace, and a taser requires a direct hit from both prongs to be effective (and still do not have a 100% effectiveness on some people).

This has been going on for decades, Ren. My first recollection was when the ACLU started suing because Blacks are disproportionately sent to prison. That isn't comparing Blacks who are arrested with Caucasians being arrested. But rather the proportion of Blacks in the community at large.
Rodney King started a whole new era of claiming police brutality. It didn't matter if you were guilty of a crime as long as the police beat you up. That way you can take the focus off your actions and direct it toward the "bully" COPs. And, even if you got convicted, the lawsuits would make your future release something to look forward to.
Even the whack job, Colin Ferguson, who killed six people and wounded 19 others on the Long Island Railroad, tried to use the "black rage" defense, saying he was temporarily insane due to the mistreatment of his race by whites.
The fact that the President is 1/2 Black is not the issue. What is more of a valid issue is how he/they blame everyone but themselves for their actions and/or come up with totally lame excuses that only the most blind of Liberals would believe..

I was thinking suicide by cop also. It looks like Powell turned to look behind him and saw the STUPID bystander just looking down the barrel of the cops guns. It appears to me that PPowell moved to his left so that the cops would only shoot him and not the STUPID bystander. At least Powell had the sense to get only himself killed.
Not saying the cop shouldn't have shot Powell but strange how Powell still had sense enough to get the bystander out of the line of fire. Just interesting is all... ???

Yep, interesting, he looks behind himself and sees bystanders in the line of fire and IMMEDIATELY moves away from them.
