Accused of shooting 28 rounds from a rifle and two handguns in the air in the parking lot at Kona hotel. Judge released him after he was acquitted but must see psychiatric care.
Where do you think the gun control system failed? It doesn't say if these firearms are legal or not. What happened to the background check? What about the 14 day handgun waiting period? Or did the system work until he became insane but the system did not update itself?
Edit: this wasn't meant to be a debate. Just what do you think happened and did the system work or not? I know there is no details but don't you wonder what happened?

Unless you have more information and details than the article you linked, your questions only invite speculation. One can only guess what 5 firearms charges were filed.
It sounds like you're trying to bait everyone into a debate over the state's gun laws when it's obvious there is no way to know how the guns were obtained (purchased recently in his name, stolen, straw purchased, transferred before 1994, inherited,out of state transfer...).
It's also obvious this is a pure case of mental illness not getting properly treated before he had this episode. The guns were incidental, and trying to debate the supposed failures of the "gun control system" in this case is moot.

this wasn't meant to be a debate. Just hypothetical theories of what you think happened? I'm guessing just like you. Unless you are in court most news never gives you all the details. We speculate just like every other news out there.

I'll bite.
The way the states firearms laws failed is no one was allowed legal carry options for the lawful citizens to protect themselves from this insane dude, if he were to start shooting citizens.

Wow. Just looking at the guy's photo I would say that he looks like someone that should not have firearms. Now the he has been released, I hope they took all of his guns and not just the ones he was caught with. I further hope that if he attempts to aquire any new firearms that the system does it's job to see that he is denied. While the current laws couldn't have prevented this, they hopefully can prevent any future incidents with this guy.

Sounds like he was pissed off about something and drunk/stoned. Doesn't sound like he mento, but state wants to be sure.

not necessarily for this specific case,
but i think the insanity card gets played way to much in court. especially temporary insanity.
if you do the crime, you should do the time.
