How much ammo is needed?
How long is the session?

we build from basics depending on class participants' abilities
it is a basic class that shows you your strengths and weaknesses and what you may need to work on
trigger press, dot torture, weak hand, malfunction drills are common
obstacles if the skill level is there
negative on the moving and shooting
session usually runs 4 hours
ammo count varies, but 2-300 should be more than sufficient

Any free shoot between classes ? :shaka:
Yes there will be a free shoot. We almost always will have a free shoot time because we feel that its a very important part of trying out you equipment at your pace and maybe practice some of the newly acquired information while still fresh. Or even practice things from previously sessions .... So yes for free shoot. :shaka:

I've been wanting to get my NRA pistol qualifications done (10 shots each on 10 plates at 7 yards) but can never get this done at the pistol range (25 and 50 yards only).
http://mqp.nra.org/ (http://mqp.nra.org/)
http://mqp.nra.org/documents/pdf/education/training/marksmanship/qualbook.pdf#page=4 (http://mqp.nra.org/documents/pdf/education/training/marksmanship/qualbook.pdf#page=4)
It also needs to be witnessed and signed by another NRA member.
Would it be possible to try and do the NRA Marksmanship Qualification requirements at an HDF shoot? Maybe during a free shoot?

GREAT PROGRAM guys. I had fun and I learned a lot. Thanks Sterling and Kanoa for the extra instruction. I was worried about my lack of experience when I signed up for the Range Day. You guys, and Mary, made me feel welcome and the urge to learn more. :shaka:

glad you had fun, d-man
be sure to practice what you learned
(gun empty, of course)
at home
we at the HDF refer to it as "tactical BVD training"
mahalos for letting me try the VP9
-
Thanks for coming out dogman hope you gained some useful info. And hope you make it out again soon.
-
Thanks Sterling for showing my how to grip my upper with the bumpfire and then subsequently getting me in trouble with Kanoa  :shaka:
Besides the awesome pistol drills that showed I have a lot to work on, I learned that having a flashlight on my gun makes that 10 hole drill difficult. What even makes it more difficult besides missing, is forgetting to fully load my magazines before the drill.
-
Thanks guys, learning more every time I come out and seeing evidence of improvement as well.
Special thanks to DL for helping me set a new "low bar" for the vtac qual. Now I know how to handle it when things literally fall apart.
Sorry I couldn't stay to help clean up, had to get home to take Momma out for our anniversary.
