Most may not be able to read the whole article unless you subscribe to the star advertiser.

In general, UH Criminology professor Meda Chesney-Lind, UH West-Oahu instructor Aaron Hunger, and a few others question if the recent rash of police involved shootings are justified.  Some notable quoted headlines are...

Personally... I'm okay with how the police handled all these shootings.  I would do the same and of course if someone is trying to run you over with a car, yelling out instructions to stop wont work.  Tasing the car aint gonna do crap but electrically charge the shell of the vehicle.  Beating the car with my baton will probably just bounce back hitting myself.  Letting them go... well if they doing this with the police, who knows what they'll do to everyone else and knowing police wont engage to lethal force... grand theft auto time!  <-- like the game.

Although we don't have the full story and media tends to favor key specifics only to get you to read their story, what do you think???

I think if the suspect is actually bringing deadly force to bear on a person, or is driving in a way that undeniably presents a real danger to others using the roads and walkways, then deadly force is appropriate to stop the threat.

If, however, the suspect is leaving in a direction not immediately threatening anyone, and the path and speed of travel are not causing imminent danger to others, the police should use discretion as to whether the situation really rises to the level of a lethal threat.

Non-compliance with law enforcement is not supposed to be a capital offense.  Seems like this has been changing lately.

The legal standard for assessing a threat used to be what a reasonable person would think or believe.  Now it seems police take a leap from non-compliance to "the suspect was aggressively threatening."  I think the reasonable man left for a long vacation.  Placing oneself in danger by stepping in front of a car should not give the police justification for homicide.  The COP can step out of the car's path just as easily.  It's becoming "stop or I'll shoot" for any infraction, where failure to stop then becomes the overriding violation.

The problem lately is leaving people's lives to the "discretion" of the police.

They are abusing their police power. Plain and simple.

The most sickening part of it all is listening to the brain washed sheeple blindly agree with the police and anything they do.

I 100% guarantee that the drunk driver that was murdered in Waikiki by the police officer, was not trying to run over anyone.

Now the military kid in Waikiki that was boxed in and killed, that's another story. He was trying to run over and through anyone and anything that got in his way, including police officers. Sadly, he left the police no other option but to shoot him.
