so let's hear what everyone thinks
-
it sucked, but then again I wasn't expecting much so it wasn't a big let down
-
Attendance was down....
Saw some new vendors...
Lot's of familiar faces..
Ammo availability getting better, cept .22
Over all, what I expected
-
Pretty much same old same old. But at least I know there are occasionally some good deals and if you look hard you can find some interesting things. For instance the last two shows this one person has been selling some black powder gun and his supplies. While I have similar guns he had some 385gr and some 410gr lead hunting conicals in 50 caliber. So instead of buying 20 new for ~$12 I bought some open packages with 17 for $3. He also had an interesting book on Hawaiian Gods. I paid $3 for it. Also picked up Leonard Nimoy's second autobiography for $4 in near new shape. Being a bit of a Trekkie I couldn't help myself. I bought some other misc stuff. I try and spread my money around and support the local economy as much as I can.
Still, gun shows here can't compare to the ones I have been to on the mainland
-
Met expectations....
Not bad show. The historic displays were impressive.
Ammo and primers plentiful.
Gun deals better as demand wanes.
Really, given our population base and isolation this is about all you can expect.
We should all be thankful for the Hawaii Historic Arms Association for putting forth the effort of planning and execution.
I have never seen any other group step up to the plate. It's a lot of work.
Btw, if there are any 2a people who have an interest in cool historic items, then you should join the club.
The original members aren't getting any younger.

I and 3000+ National Guard and Reserve Soldiers were working this past weekend and couldn't attend. That may have caused the low numbers.
-
I wasn't working but didn't make on Saturday due to family visiting and then Sunday it wasn't the cards either. There should have been an I did not attend choice.

It's a good one.

couldnt get off from work to fly down. wish i got to go. never been to one.
-
I wasn't expecting it to be any better than the last gun show, so my expectations were met. I did see some decent deals out there, just nothing I really needed. Young Guns had a Tavor for $1700.00 that was briefly temping :-\. I got some ammo at decent prices which made the parking and admission fees worth it. As always, it was nice to bump into people you know and talk story.
-
It was good to see more vendors out there this year, but overall it was So So.
-
I never expect to find deals at gun shows, but I was blown away by how few guns there actually were. I'm comparing to a couple in Virginia and even one in San Diego back in 09 but they all had way more actual firearms.

We had 2 New X-Ring Girls.
I had 20 new products on Display for AR and Ruger 10/22's
I had 10 new products that never made it out. No Space.
I guess I gotta do the merchandising better. FAIL
Should have had a list of Gun Show Prices for the parts. FAIL Most items were 25-50% off.
I was doing it the Chinese way "Gotta ask for bargain!"

Historical displays were interesting that's about it. Better ammo specials at OGC and YG prior to the show. Was hoping to see some lever actions, saw two, one sold and one 22mag. Unless I get into reloading I doubt I'll attend the next one.
-
Never give up Bro... Keep seeking and you'll find something good.
As for reloading if you keep shooting it only makes sense, saves $ & just like cooking. Another thing you and the Mrs can do.
Taught my daughter to reload when she was 5. Don't know if you got any children. But getting the family involved and informed is a important part of safety.
So many good guys on the forum and available reloading manuals to help you along the way.

Saw that too, but it was left handed, didn't even want to ask how much sending back to have it converted was.

Pictures of the new x-ring girls ? :D

Overall, I thought it was good. I take my dad to each show and he enjoys checking out the older guns on display and checking outhouse gadgets, mostly knives. In past shows, I've bought ammo. I saw some good deals during this show, but my stock it ok for now and the gun fund is low.
I saw a few good deals on guns, but I'm not really in the market for anything. I saw some very overpriced guns that I'd have to believe that the seller set the price so high that they didn't really want to sell the gun, but would if they got the right offer.

I didn't realize it was left handed. Thanks, now I don't feel so bad that I didn't check out a gun that I couldn't afford any way.

Haha yeah I saw a Colt AR with an asking price of $3k. That would have been a hell of a price even at the top of the SH panic.

Seriously. In the midst of the panic, I was offered over $3k for a nib Colt 6720 that I got for around $1100.

I don't think that having a "celebrity" at the show would necessarily motivate more people to come (who weren't already planning on coming) or make the show any more profitable.
-
I disagree. what if we get someone from hawaii five-0 to sign autographs or something. they probably not anti-gun. that would bring in other people who not into guns. we can even educate them while they there. if we were to get james yeager that would bring in tons of people...who want to give him an earful. many say its the same ol thing and going downhill. got to try something different.

You're going to have to pay them just to show up, and that's IF they agree to show up at all. For one of the stars of the show you're probably in the neighborhood of $10K for the appearance. (BTW Alex O'laughlin makes $100K+ an episode. You'd have to really make it worth his while to be there!) At most these kinds of appearances are for only a short period of time, so once they go home then the motivation for people to come is gone as well if that was the only reason for them to come. I really don't know if that's going to make financial sense to the organizers. The organizers are going to have to pass along the expense some how, and that would mean either higher fees for the vendors or higher admission prices for us. The risk you run with this is that the event will be overshadowed by the personality that's invited.
I thought the show was ok. No one had the deals on slug ammo I was looking for, but I found everything else I was looking for. It was nice to see several of our newer vendors at the show as well as the longtime supporters. Hopefully next year's show will be a little bigger.

I thought that having some race car bikini models walking around might draw more young adults. It would be cheaper than alex.
Guns n' buns!

You're nominated! Do I hear a 2nd? J/k. Would have to hand out barf bags if I walked around trying to model a bikini.

Found a brand new, in box, Belgian FN Hi-Power chambered in 40 s&w with 3 sets of grips for $500.

I agree. I think it is the bad economy that is making less of a turnout more than anything. I wouldn't want to see fake ass celebrities there any who....

Most times they hold it on a drill weekend. I'm surprised that a lot of reservists/National Guard personnel are firearm enthusiasts...maybe because the NRA was founded by NGers.
-
If the nation's best gun salesman would threaten executive order gun restrictions, that would increase attendance.
