I am still a newbie to loading...I started loading my own 223 recently and got a good couple batches that I have shot already. Lymans specs to 1.75" trim length. I did about 250 cases and noticed that some in there are in the 1.73 range. I know I set the trimmer to 1.75 using a empty brass as a set point, but it's not consistent. I've gotten some from 1.749 to 1.737. I'm not using max load on these rounds, is it okay to use these at the 1.737 length? What is a cuttoff length that would be considered to dangerous to use? Also this is for Semi Auto..
any help would be great...thanks again!!

1.75" figure is probably max length. Shorter by a few thous should be fine.
Longer that that figure is where you will run into trouble, as in the case mouth can get jammed into the rifling lands and cause overpressure, jams, and stuck cases. It could even cause case failure if the loads are hot.
If you are going for accuracy find one of the shorter (not the shortest but near there) and set the cut to that one, so that all the other brass is the cut to the same length. The real short ones will grow into it.

I think 1.76 is max.
And like heavies said a little shorter is fine.

Yeah no prob. Just set your trimmer to somewhere less than 1.75" you should be fine. Make sure you remeber to re-size before you trim.
