“Assault pistols”, defined by several characteristics, essentially large semi auto pistols of cosmetic paramilitary appearance, usually accepting detachable magazines of over 10 rounds capacity, are banned, except those registered before July 1992 (grand-fathered, may not be transferred). These include semi auto versions of UZI, Tech-9, etc., and certain large target pistols. A non-inclusive list is available from the State Attorney General and county police chiefs,
And what if someone registered one here. Would that make 30rd mags illegal?

nice, that's awesome. the whole welded magazine thing seems like a hassle. this seems like a better option.

Technically speaking, yes Ido believe so. I don't know how long it would/will take someone to catch on though.

Am I correct that the state diktat is that ALL of those (semi-auto, removal magazine outside the handgrip) jeopardize the state's compelling interest in public safety, thus the closely-tailored law that preserves public safety is a total ban?

I would assume so, but the politicians that worded the bill had no clue.
Can you name a single modern semiauto rifle that does not have a pistol cousin, that would include non commercially produced pistol. (home made)

Oh
I can think of one the original Stryr AUG A1 , A2. ::) in NATO 5.56, the 9mm version uses TMP pistol mags.

Well sure but a bullpup pistol doesn't really make any sense (yes I know a few exist - ridiculous concept IMO)
