Citizens fighting for their rights? Doesn't grab attention as much as a Kardashian girl.

Wasn't this a while ago (Couple months) ?

They marched on the Capitol in Olympia open carrying.

Probably didn't grab much headlines as they were peaceful and law enforcement didn't make a big deal about it.
No arrests etc.

Citizens fighting for their rights? Doesn't grab attention as much as a Kardashian girl.

They're having another rally today (the third), but I haven't seen reports just yet. A week or so ago the DHS picked up, locked up, detained, did NOT Mirandize, did NOT allow an attorney, and for hours questioned in an intimidating manner one of the leaders, disabled vet Anthony Bosworth, of the group sponsoring and organizing these protests.

http://www.examiner.com/article/federal-agents-catch-and-release-open-carry-activist-washington (http://www.examiner.com/article/federal-agents-catch-and-release-open-carry-activist-washington) (includes brief video)

An hour-long radio interview with Mr. Bosworth is here:

We in Hawaii have laws many times more restrictive than the people in Washington are dealing with (protests center around I-594 "mandatory background checks on all gun transfers" [as a "backdoor" registration scheme. While we here in Hawaii sheepishly bleat into the police station and ask permission if we can please register/inform the government of our desire to purchase a firearm that they might grant us permission to own something from their approved list, as long as we don't bear it or use it in any way or location except those approved by our elite betters...], while they have Constitutional open carry and a "shall issue" CCW licensing scheme). Despite Hawaii's clear status as tyranny in respect to the right to keep and bear arms, the attitude here, for the large majority of gun owners, seems to be "whatevahs". As I've said in other threads, I suspect our only relief from the tyranny suppressing our rights here in Hawaii will be from the courts (eventually, maybe), and all the denied CCW applications and emails and phone calls and FAXes won't ever make any difference, but "large scale" public civil disobedience could have an effect by educating and informing (via the publicity generated) a large number of citizens who are currently uninformed that might then exert some pressure on public officials. I don't think two or three people will cut it. Or probably even 15 or 20. Need at least 100, and 500 would be better.

David Codrea's update as of this morning... the event is occurring at the moment.

http://www.examiner.com/article/spokane-protest-to-defy-judge-s-gun-ban-on-federal-grounds (http://www.examiner.com/article/spokane-protest-to-defy-judge-s-gun-ban-on-federal-grounds)

Note that the judge ordered this new diktat re "prohibited on federal property" because the detaining DHS agent(s) were obviously wrong in their detention of Mr. Bosworth in their claim about the law pertaining to federal property, as it clearly only applies to INSIDE the federal buildings. So now the feds want to immediately expand the law via court fiat to thwart the First Amendment-protected assembly/speech at the last minute. These are our "public servants" working for us, by the consent of the governed... or are they?  >:(

ADDED at 10:50 AM: the article above has live tweets from the rally site... here's one from Anthony Bosworth's wife Maria:

Live blog photos and comments of the rally. The protestors told the federal courthouse security that they were going to defy the judge's order extending prohibition of open carry weapons to outside the building on federal property, and they did. No arrests. The rally appears to have ended without violence or any arrests. I guess those federal snipers on the rooftops will have to wait for another day (been a while since an "official" Ruby Ridge or Waco...).
