Title: Newbie to hunting

Hey there everybody, I've always wanted to try my hand at hunting but to be frank, don't know much at all about it. I'd purchased a weatherby 30-06 for that purpose awhile back on the mainland (kommiefornia) but sold that to fund my scar 17.  I'd definitely like to get into hunting but don't even know where to start. Can I use my scar 17? Is there any actual game to hunt here in Oahu? Any deer or mostly hogs? I appreciate any guidance and advice

went to the DLNR hunter ed course, got the card etc. but newb to hunting

Same as above, I'd suggest taking the hunters ed course.

As far as game, got pigs, goats and fowl on oahu.

Your scar is 308 right,  that's fine for hunting. It's up to you though if you want to carry it through the bushes and the weather.
