How early can one renew their permit to acquire ? Can renew before expiration date?

You can submit the renewal application within 2 weeks of expiration date (waiting period).  They don't want you to potentially have an unexpired permit and a new one, too.

Oh the sillyness.  You still good to go to purchase with existing permit, yet you still need to "cool off" for two weeks to renew.....  hem.  Well they'll waste billions on rail, whats a few hundo grand on useless repetitive background checks..

Yeah, because then theoretically you could do twice as much highly-regulated tightly government-controlled activity (acquire a firearm  :shake:) if you were in two places at the same time. And we can't have that possibility floating around out there. Because: "a compelling interest in public safety".
