I needed a new bench for my reloading gear because the old desk I was using was an unstable POS. My brother picked up a butcher block workbench from Sears for his reloading bench, but it was way too high (needs a bar stool height chair for sitting), and it was freaking expensive.
Whilst looking around, I found this workbench at Costco for about $250. It is supposed to have high casters on the bottom, but I left them off, and it is the perfect height for sitting in my office chair while reloading.

This work bench is Heavy! If I could bolt it to the floor it would be even better, but the wife said 'NO WAY!' , arg. :P

Pretty good amount of lockable storage.

Came up with a quick change system for my single stage, turret, and bullet seater presses.
What kinds of benches do you folks use? :shaka:

Very nice setup. I saw that exact same bench one day at Costco. Thought about buying it and went back to get it and it was gone :(
-
So thats where all the varget went..... ;D
I'll play too.....

My bench is some piece of crap computer table that i found laying outside on the street. I'd take a picture but it's over at voodoo's house setup to trim .223 brass. Few thousand of those to go through lol.

So how hard is it to do reloads?

Nice bench, onfloat. It looks very organized.

So how hard is it to do reloads?
Not hard. I just started. I went slow got a few books, watched a bunch of videos on YouTube. It was fairly easy after watching a bunch of different videos to figure out who knew what they were doing and who was careless. I also talked to a couple of different folks about how they are doing it and thoughts.
Nice bench, onfloat. It looks very organized.
Thanks, it's all about the camera angle. ;)

Nice benches guys! I'll take a pic of mine one of these days.
Hey OnFloat where did you get the yellow bins that you have? I am looking for those and I found them for $5 each and was hoping I could find them cheaper somewhere.

I got them at Lowes in Waikele. I forgot what I paid for them but it seems like they were $6 or $7 for a set of four.

Nice lookin' setups, gents!!
I use an old computer desk for my bench. In fact, its still my computer desk. I invade the communal work space at the back of the garage from time to time but don't leave anything out more than a day or 2.
At some point I may set up a dedicated workspace but using the lee hand press doesn't require a dedicated space so I haven't prioritized that, yet. I did rig a table mount for it to free up one hand and load faster but I just clamp it to the edge of my desk. Worked well for a while but the force required eventually split the wood. Gotta make a new one - across the grain.
The supplies I do have neatly organized but its nothing picture worthy. Its guerrilla reloading over here. But I can crank it out at a decent pace while watching netflix or hulu. :D

I would love to if I had the time. Have an extensive honeydew list that has been on the backburner due to my hobby that supports my hobby . . . LOL

Kinda cluttered, I need to invest in drawers or stackable parts bins. I do both reloading and building on this bench.

Here is my virgin press that I just set up. Prior to this I used a lee hand reloader. I need better lighting

Thanks for checking! I've been waiting forever for these cheap workbenches to come back in stock at lowes, but that one from costco looks better made. Costs twice as much but I may end up getting that one. Can't beat costco return policy
-
Finally got my presses mounted on my new reloading bench. Thanks to the fine hard plastic legs and couple 2x4's and plywood. Only about $200, total cost.

Price drop - $399.00 less $50.00 instant rebate = $349.00. Rebate good until beginning of June.

Sam's club has this bench. I use it and it works well. $224.00. Steel legs. Very solid. The drawers are optional. Height is good for me.

Here's what I have been working on over the last few months. Just gotta iron out the details of placement to ease the whole operation. Hand made bench from scrap lumber and 3/4 inch maple for the top from home depot with cabinets bought at the local thrift shop. Probably got 100-150$ into the bench and cabinets plus labor (mine so its free).

That's a nice workspace Koa.

Reloading bench redux.... After about 4 yrs, the build up and accumulation of crap got out of hand. Took me a week to clean everything up and bring it to this state, however, I'm still not done cleaning everything up completely! Lol.
Made it my New Year's resolution to get caught up on reloading the hundreds and hundreds of empty cases that I have backlogged... Be on the lookout for stuff FS... :shaka:

Hi Ed!
I saw this on another thread. Looks interesting because of the portability and the universal fittings for different makers. I did not inquire if this item ships to HI.

That looks nice. Thinking of the future where I might downsize in the future and already thinking of a more portable setup.
BTW, Heavies that's a nice setup you got, good idea to collect old primers for the Co-Ax. Wondering what that green and white gizmo on the right side floor is.

Haha. That's my wife's side of the room encroaching into my area. It is for binding scrap books together. It punches the holes in the paper and crimps the wire binding.

Is that a Lee Hand Press that you have mounted to your bench? Did you build or buy that bracket?

I been there with the wife specially for closet space. Thought that binding machine was some reloading gear (one track mind) Maybe you can commandeer that to put together your reloading data and notes (LOL).

Yes, I made the bracket. I use it to seat .223 bullits and for loading and seating depth, for load development, at the range.

I want to put it on the front but my wife said its in the way so i have to put it on the side. It worked out great though since the trash is right under the press so the primer goes straight to the trash can.

I've been reloading 357, 44, 308 already bc those are more expensive rounds that I have. never reloaded 223 before bc was cheap enough to just buy it. but now with the shortage, I thought its a good time to start reloading 223. my 1st batch. going to test it out as soon as the range reopens, or maybe on my friends farm.
these are with Hornady 55 grain factory seconds fmjbt. I also have some 69 grain Sierra hpbt that I will try later.

Hey Stang,
I just finished loading 1,000 rounds of 223 using Hornady 55gr soft point boat tail factory seconds. Got ‘em for $10/100. Oh, and of course I loaded them using H335. I only had a couple pounds of H335 and ran out quickly so I found an 8lb jug at Powder Valley and snatched it up so I could finish these up. The Sierra 69gr SMK’s work well for me as well. I use a slower powder than H335 like Varget or IMR4895 for the heavier bullets.

I have a few pounds of Varget and H4895, and a bunch of handgun powder

since we are going into lockdown again, probably kokohead closed, i'll have time to reload more again. or do more yard work

I’m a little light on Varget but I have a bunch of H4895 and IMR4895. So I’m pretty good for now.
I have a bunch of Handgun powder but not enough Titegroup. So I need to load more with Unique and Bullseye. You do what ya gotta do during a shortage.

Shooting out on your friends farm sounds pretty cool to me. I don’t know about how far your friends farm is, but I drove 45 minutes to get to Koko Head. So I am wiling to drive to get to my happy place. What I like about being able to shoot how you want is that you can practice rapid fire. Which I think is crucial to train to protect yourself. Can’t do that at Koko Head. And you have a place you can continue to test your loads. :shaka:

I love Montana Gold Bullets. If you buy them by the case the price is only a penny or two more than plated bullets. And you can push them over 1100fps which most plated bullet companies say not to exceed 1100fps. It’s too bad I can’t get them right now.

now i limit myself to reloading 50 rounds at a time. need to conserve everything these days. :'(

Keith was at the forefront of cartridge and bullet development of the 44 Mag. A lot, if not all by seat of the pants. Most of his books go for a lot of money on Amazon. I bought a couple before his books went sky high.
Let me know your thoughts on the bullets after reloading and shooting them.

I have a Saeco 4 cavity mold to make a wonderful Keith 44- 245 gr swc.
It is a slow process to make because the mold has to dissipate a large amount of heat.
The resultant bullet is a joy to shoot.

Turned a closet into a reloading room. Just gotta run some electrical now for better light and some tools…
