Very noble sentiments. Rather than waste it on the government though, I probably would have established a foundation to reward constitutional activism -- perhaps in the form of scholarships or essay contests or somethin'.. Say 25 Large per year, the rest invested the way foundations do. I'd do some research on deserving recipients..
On the other hand, they could have just bequeathed it all to the particular constitutional activist named Terry, 230RN.

It's their money. If they want to flush it down the toilet, it's theirs to do so.
I get tired of Leftists trying to tell others what to do with their own money.
"They only donated $25K? They should have made it $250K"
"They only pay minimum wage? They should be paying everyone $15/hour"
"They spent millions on a new house in Chicago, and a Summer home in Hawaii. Think of the good that money could have done given to charities, the homeless, the poor, the sick, etc."
It's always easy to be generous with other people's money.
This is the United States of America. I get to earn what I can earn, and I can spend it however I see fit. Maybe you would choose to spend your money differently, but judging what I do is falling into the Left/Socialism/Progressive camp.
Leave me alone to make my own choices, and I'll afford you the same respect.

Gee whiz, guys (& gals) if you're referring to me, I only offered a suggestion as to what I, me, 230RN, Terry, might have done, while I kept in mind the wastefulness of our (and every) government. I even referred to their actions as expressing a noble sentiment.
Sheesh!
Far be it from me to force anyone as to how to use up their own money. And far be it from you to refer to me as a leftist. :o
Just in case you were.

I feel it was a waste of good hard earned money. But it is none of my business how I feel about what they did with their money. Just like it is none of any one else's business what I intend to do with my estate when I die. Assuming there is anything left when I do.

Boy! You got defensive really fast! :D
Sorry if you took that personally.
I was referring to the more heated comments in that article and others I read on FB. For example:
it's a shame apple, google, facebook, microsoft, etc. don't have one-tenth of the loyalty to America that this fine couple did.
So, not only is this Liberal-minded person praising the gift, they are simultaneously chastising the "evil" corporations for not doing the same. Meanwhile, they read the article and commented using either a Microsoft-driven PC, an Apple-driven computer, phone, or iPad, and they probably located the article using Google, FB, or another content aggregator!
Anytime a corporation or wealthy person gives to a cause, there is always the Liberal do-gooder saying the giver should have given much more and to a "better" cause!! Because, you know, greedy 1%-er! I'm stunned at how many people I see judging others spending their own money. It's so easy for them to come up with better ideas when they don't have to fund it!
