Cerakote "C" colors.

You can buy a cheap airbrush and have fun.

I've done a few that way.

I've had no prior painting experience and I'm not really very artistic but I think they came out ok

KK,

Can you apply C colors over an existing Cerakote finish (the baked on type)? Fingers crossed I don't have to strip & reapply everything! ;)  Oh & +1 on where to buy...

I'm interested as to doing this as well.

Would it be possible to pinstripe this paint as well?

Where to buy?

I bought directly from the cerakote website.

They sell a package where you get 6 different colors and some other stuff.

I did my AR via the rattle can method procured from any hardware store.  Colors flat black, green, brown, tan.  Start by plugging and masking important areas, keep a magazine in degrease and spray away.  If you want a mantle piece do the cerakote, durakote, chemakote, whateverkote.  The rattlecan comes off with use which needs to be touched up from time to time.

Rust-o-Leum has specific ultra flat spray paint in camouflage colors.
Flat dark earth, earth brown, foliage green, OD green etc.
They actually call it camouflage.
Never did a whole firearm but did do a few stocks, hand guards and kids skateboard helmets.
I kind of like when it starts to wear off.

Won't hold up as well as the Kotes though.

While we're on the subject of painting...

Anyone try painting over Cerakote (heat cure)?   Not a total repaint but applying camo over an existing Cerakote finish... Any of you LWRC owners out there ever camo your rifles using any of the above mentioned paints?   I was looking at maybe using AlumaHyde II to camo up one of my rifles...

Thanks!  :shaka:

Krylon fusion worked well for me.

I've used Cerakote hot and cold but never over an existing paint job.

Don't forget to throw it down the driveway couple times for that weathered look.
