A casual read over can suggest that she got cancer from the dust as a result of the attacks on 9/11...
but there is another important fact that is largely overwritten by the headlines and opening paragraphs...
"Every time I saw an aircraft, I panicked," she told the Post. "I started smoking crack cocaine, because I didn't want to live."
hmmm.....

If you are trying to make the point that journalism is poor nowdays, I have to agree.
It's pretty obvious to me that in order for any news organization to survive economically, they have have to generate content that somebody will want to see, read, or listen to.
With the introduction of the internet, the number of "news organizations" has grown from a handful to a truckload. The demand for "journalists" is huge because all these new outlets are trying to attract viewers with interesting content, and somebody has to write it, qualified or not.

So as we have all seen, there is all kinds of psuedo news being generated. Even by the large and traditionally reputable news organizations, because now they have to compete against the college kid with a laptop who really has nothing to lose by broadcasting bs over the web.
A fine example is that civil beat story thread... so sad
