Cheese cloth is a waste of time.
Paint straining bag from the hardware store is the best.
Also, you shouldn't be straining the LAB, as you mix particulates from the lactose sourse into the mixture.
Simply use a larger, wider bowl and gently remove the cheese layer from the top of the solution.
You're saying to create the culture in a large bowl from the beggining so it is easier to remove the cheese from the solution when its pau?

Lactic acid bacteria is a solution that is basically the liquid part left after making cheese .
It can be sprayed on foliage to help plants grow but it isn't a fertilizer, it outcompetes other microorganisms for resources.
It can also be fed to live stock as a nontoxic probiotic.
Another use is for waste management of livestock, it will out compete odor causing anaerobic bacteria present on livestock manure when combined with deep litter composting.
I'm sure Q :thumbsup: will elaborate on this further, he has more experience than me.
LAB is a component of Korean Natural Farming techniques.
