While I agree that regular harsh prison sentences for drug offenders misses the mark, pardoning them entirely misses the reason that it is treated seriously. It ignores the relation between the drugs being used and the violent and theft type crimes that go hand in hand. Reform the system to more effectively treat the addiction but don't just pardon them.
