When people start in on how OGC is the best gun store I just listen and think, ok here we go again.
There are a bunch of gun stores on Oahu and although they're all different, I've always thought they were pretty much the same.
The other day OGC had 7.62x39 cases on sale and as usual, I was stuck at work the entire day of the sale.
I went to OGC today and asked Carter if the 7.62x39 ammo was still $269?
He said, "no, that was a one day sale.... But, hey I've got plenty, no problem, I'll give you that price."
That kind of attitude is the very reason why his little 20 square foot store that you had to walk up three flights of steep stairs to get to has transformed itself into the most popular gun store in Hawaii.
Way to go Carter, and thanks for another great deal.
-
I agree, business as usual for Carter and Eugene. Great prices and great service
-
I'd just like to say in the middle of everything today, Carter stopped what he was doing to help me fix my AR-15 and put the Single point mount on the back. I was really happy with his service!
-
Kinda difficult to find anything wrong... The parking is probably the only thing keeping that store from being over crowded.... It's hard to go in there with a plan.... After seeing all the new "CANDY" all over the walls and floors, the plan goes right out the window....
Like anything else, good competition is always good cuz it wakes "other" stores up from the normal high prices and grouchy service... Not saying that other stores give grouchy service or anything ::)
-
+1 to Carter and his ENTIRE staff at OGC.
-
Just need more parking! Haha, I noticed across the street on the left there's a fence...with a lot of parking space behind it... Now if we can only sneak in there!
-
Yeah, I don't miss those stairs... I love the fact that they utilize Twitter for something other than pictures of lunch.

No kidding, that and the guys who keep double parking in the back of everyone need a good kick in the balls.

Oooh, I was gonna start doing that... you talking about that silver pick up truck? But if I'm gonna get kicked in the balls, I'd rather drive around a few times... Haha, or go Alicia's first and get some snacks.
-
^^^No just in general. There are always idiots that double park in back. Mind you this is after you've already driven around the block two times and lucked out that someone left.
-
I'm wearing a cup next time I go there, just I case I encounter any ball kickers.

Why? I do it (2011 Tacoma Double Cab long bed Black), even the OGC staff recommended we do it. We all know the situation with parking sucks. Now if it was someone else who wasn't even in the shop that did then yes I agree "Kick his ass seabass!" Otherwise, just yell "Anyone drive a....blah blah blah?"
-
Better yet, if you block somebody in, take preemptive action and let the driver of the lime green miata know you're behind him whenever he needs out.

When someone sees you come out and start loading stuff and not even ask if that's your car - inconsiderate.
When someone parks perpendicular to the people in front of them and don't ask when someone leaves if they are XXXX type of car - inconsiderate.
To me if I was to double park, I would have one eye on the door and as soon as someone either makes a move for the door or the register, I'd ask them which car they were in. Also when I've been in the store I've only heard one person tell Carter they were double parked. In general I don't find it all surprising due to the way people drive in Hawaii. Sorry about the rant.........it's a pet peeve of mine (thanks for being one of the few who asks about the double parking though).

I park around the corner if he is full. If were to double park (haven't yet) I would just tell Carter.

Understood and yes I am considerate with what you identified is what I exactly do. Last thing I need is a long key scratch on my new truck.

I'm enough of a car guy that I would never ever deface someone else's car. I look at them as people did in the Old West. You screw with a guy's car or horse and you should be hung.

Mmm...OGC is the only place that let my 14y/o son shoulder a bunch of shotguns/rifles to find one that "fit". That alone was enough to make it the best shop in my book.
And yes, parking is a real pain. But I don't blame the shop...it's the browsers who are just killing time and buy nothing that suck. Seriously, if you're going to spend 1/2 an hour chatting and fondling stuff, at least walk out with SOMETHING!

I disagree.
I think the ability to go to the LGS and shoot the $#!t is what makes gun shops great.
I buy more guns and ammo than anyone I know but I still enjoy the fondling sessions and the camaraderie that I can only get at the LGS.

I agree with King. noobs like me learn a lot from talking to the staff, other customers. If people are willing to share advice and opinions to those willing to listen, it will only increase enthusiasm and eventually introduce more people to firearms. After a few range sessions with friends, I went to all the gun shops and "talked story" with as many people as I could to decide if it was something I wanted to get into. Agree or disagree, it's good to hear as many opinions so it can help in forming your own. I now own 4 firearms and am willing to share as much as I know with anyone who will listen. I think LGS owners and staff understand that even people killing time will directly or indirectly add to more business.

What exactly is there to disagree with? My belief that OGC is a great shop because they let my son find the right gun? Or the fact that finding parking would be easier if it spaces were not filled by a non-paying/space taking customers?
Great, you buy a lot of guns and ammo. Your point? In the 1/2 hour or whatever you spend chatting...how many people are stuck circling the block with cash in hand? I know this happens because I've done it myself, if I don't find parking in 10-15 minutes, I'm gone. The same goes for most of the guys I send there. Hell just last week, I took a "side trip" while headed to Ft. Shafter with 3 guys from the office. We all had our permits and cash to pick up some shotguns (I wanted an 1100). But after dodging panel vans up and down the block for 20 minutes, we ended up leaving.
Maybe it's just me, but I try to be courteous to my fellow shoppers and believe just because I spend money doesn't mean I should deny others from doing the same. So I'm usually in and out of OGC within about 5 minutes...dropping $800 for ammo each of my last 2 visits. And before you read into things and say "What about when your son...", well that's simple: I was parked wayyyy down the street.
That said, I know that you (KK) know exactly what I'm talking about. You'd be the first to throw a fit if you drove all the way to the range and all the bays were taken up by people talking story instead of shooting (denying you "trigger time"). It's basically the same thing.

It's true that one can learn a lot from helpful staff and fellow enthusiasts, no doubt about it...but there is a time and place. When a location (such as OGC) has limited available parking, at some point someone taking up space to "talk story" CAN hurt the bottom line. (My point--->) People who are serious about supporting a shop should buy something after taking up the time.
If parking was not an issue, I say make house. But with the way things are? People need to consider how it might affect the business.

Gun shops are there to sell you stuff. If I wanted advise I'd seek an expert. A smith or for tactical stuff a real operator.
-
I have been on this Island for a year now and found OGC to have the best prices, very close to some shops in the mainland. I was a big fan of this shop at first.
Now I rather pay more, elsewhere then to deal with the owners behavior. He is very unfriendly, rude and unappreciative. He will treat people with extreme demeanor, knowing that he has the best prices he really doesn't care about customer relations.

Meh!
I have not witnessed this behavior. I have been going to OGC since they opened.
Maybe you asked him a retarded question, like "eh brah, does this .308 rifle kick?" An he responded in kind.
I have never had an issue with Carter. Sounds like thin skin... and wait a second.....is that another parking spot opening up?

as compared to ...?? Magnum? gimme a break
you're entitled to your opinions...... can't make everyone happy
-
OGC rocks! Never had a bad experience with them. Carter, Eric, Eugene and Dan understand customer service.
-
I must say that customer service plays a big part with me....
Till this day I still can't believe I bought a gun from Magnum a while back for more than it was worth....
I was hypnotized by Brian's coolness... O0
Not saying that Carter's not cool, cause he's a JEDI in the firearm world but I'm a sucker for customer service when it comes to any hobby....

I think its really neat that you have three posts, and two of them specifically target me and my shop. Did you ever really consider just reaching out and letting us know if you feel you weren't treated well so we could attempt to rectify it? No.. instead, you anonymously bash us on a public forum knowing there are no repercussions. I ask you to simply send me a PM with you real name and email and I'd like to know the circumstances under which you felt you were treated poorly. If I'm a fault, I'll rectify the situation and make it up to you. If you were making unreasonable demands or requests, at least in my opinion, we can figure that out as well as maybe there is a perception issue.
Please understand, I'm like any other person. I have other things going on both professionally and personally just like you, and I may have just finished giving the 15th daily iteration of the entire history of the AR and the differences between the different models at the moment you walked in. That's not a slam or an excuse just a possible explanation.
You know who I am, the big guy on the stool at OGC, have the decency to introduce yourself as well.

I truly hope you're not serious, because there is no debate to be had here.
No one said anything about "buy now or leave". Just because I get what I need/want and know how to GTFO, doesn't mean Carter and crew expect or even imply that. As stated, my no B.S. express style is just my personal understanding of the parking issue and respect for others. So I'm just showing common courtesy OGC and fellow shoppers. It's really that simple.
As for enjoying the company? Well, it's a gun shop, as in a retail store/business establishment; Not a lounge or some secret clubhouse. They are there to sell and I go there to buy. If I want to hang out with friends or have my ego stroked, there are more appropriate places.
Maybe you can open a chat lounge for gun owners instead of a pawn shop?

I've never noticed anything unfriendly about how you run things. Most of us know that when you're quiet you're probably deep in thought, ordering more stuff, or surfing gun porn. :D
-
Colt, your point is understood. What I'm saying is, for those of us new to the community, I have tons of questions and I don't feel like I'm wasting anyone's time. I feel like YG and OGC are the two places that will happily answer questions (even though they probably answer the same questions x 15 a day). They will offer their opinions based on their experience. Other LGS (in my experience) will try to sell you what they think you should buy. I sell stuff for a living all day and I'm very good at it. I try to teach my staff that the best way to sell something to someone is to listen to them, figure out what they want, and make a suggestion.
My point is, you know what you want, you go in and get it. When I go there to buy accessories or ammo, I'm in and out as well. But if I'm considering a new firearm, however inconsiderate it might be, it's my hard earned money and I'm going to make sure I get what I want. If OGC doesn't want people to spend time in there and ask questions, the solution is simple. Don't be helpful.

I always find it funny when someone presumes to know someones business motto.
I disagree again with you.
I seriously believe that Carter and gang enjoy talking to customers.
Just because you have a GTFO attitude doesn't mean everyone does.
Since you're so concerned why don't you open a drive thru gun shop.

Actually, have you noticed the stools and chairs right outside the gallery? If I remember correctly in a post somewhere, at one point during it's construction, Carter intended the place to have an area where people can chill and relax and hang out with like-minded people; right next to the future firing range. I swear I remember seeing him type that, or I could be making the entire thing up, but I think it was supposed to be a "member's lounge" or something like that.

Yes it was a place that we can hang out and wait for the range to open. Well... we are still waiting ( no poke at carter) so the whole area is being appropriately imo! I'm sure Carter gets tired of me lol, but I hang out and talk for like 20-30 mins almost every time I am there to buy ammo for our classes. It's a chance to talk 'shop' for things that interest everyone (guns, ATF, laws, legal shit, government etc.).
I enjoy it. I like other shops as well, WGS those guys were pretty cool. I just don't get out to Hawaii Kai if I am not going to KKSC.

I am going to have to agree with this guy. OGC does without doubt have some of the best prices on the island, but I've found Carter to be almost bipolar. At times he will treat you with great consideration and respect, but most other times he will be a condescending douche. I myself am willing to spend extra money not to deal with someone who treats me like shit, I refuse to financially support those who aren't willing to treat others with consistent respect and civility.
If you have had a different experience, good for you, I only speak from my own. As for the rest of the shop, for the most part they are very much on it. Eugene and Eric are very knowledgeable and respectful at all times towards myself. Dan, whilst being a nice guy overall, is a bit like an overattentive waiter and lacks knowledge on many of the products.
Overall its a nice shop with good prices, but for those wanting ample parking and to avoid a grumpy wannabe "know-it-all," I would say to check out some of the other shops on the island.

Now I rather pay more, elsewhere then to deal with the owners behavior. He is very unfriendly, rude and unappreciative. He will treat people with extreme demeanor, knowing that he has the best prices he really doesn't care about customer relations.
Overall its a nice shop with good prices, but for those wanting ample parking and to avoid a grumpy wannabe "know-it-all," I would say to check out some of the other shops on the island.

even if the person used another IP address, I still call BS.
I guess when you guys are doing well, expanding etc. other profit margins are shrinking = hating. ::)
-
Not everybody is going to like everybody in this world.
Don't be mad. As hard as it is to believe, there are people that don't like me. ;)
I think Carter has gotten way better than he used to be but he's a person too. Complete with emotions, moods, problems, deadlines and stress.
I think the fact that he's opened his gun shop has opened the eyes of other gun shop owners to ways to better their business.
He's got to be doing something right because he has expanded and has delivered quality products at "mainland" prices.
If he's not nice to you one day, just smile at him and let him know that a man hug is o.k. Awwww, see, all better now.

I agree KK. But false/negative commentary on forums like these can hurt a business undeservedly. This is why AR15.com makes it really hard to make duplicate screen names. There is a lot of business at stake and moderators/admin won't allow BS.
This is the same BS that drives good people in the industry away from these types of forums.

I think, i have yet to still make it down there. One day soon i shall, after i do a bit of research so as to not ask all the usual newbie questions
-
Carter has always been cool with me. Everybody got there bad days though were all human.
-
Sorry Carter, I don't see anything funny with the IP address or account but I do find it odd that they seem to dislike you so much. To be fair, my wife doesn't like you either :P
I've only had good service from OGC Tactical. Sure Carter is a gun shop owner and they pretty much all have certain character traits to match, but even in his small shop, he was obliging to show and let you handle anything in his shop whether it was on display or not. Not only that, but he offered to place any special orders that I needed. The only time's I've ever had problems was when there were a lot of customers in the shop all in line to buy stuff. But that was a given with the size of the shop at the time, the single cash register, and only two people behind the counter. It's kinda hard to do anything about that.

Man if you want to meet cool guys, go and talk reloading to Joe & Henry at WGS. They take a crap load of time to talk to you about that subject. Just got to be careful because Joe is probably talking to some guy about schlong size..................

I liked OGC's shop the one time I was in there. Lots of cool stuff to look at, and the store was set up like a high end showroom, which I thought was cool. Haven't purchased any guns out here, so I didn't talk to them/ask questions, other than what did they have for 45ACP ammo, but they all seemed like pretty decent folks.
On the other end of the spectrum, WGS was kind of cluttered, and crammed full of stuff. I felt right at home! It was like they airlifted a gun shop from back home and dropped it off on Oahu. They kind of serve different clientele, I think. OGC is a good place to take your wife, with the excellent lighting and tidy layout; and WGS is where you go to spend an hour talking about the dark arts of the handloader--when you told your wife it would just be a quick stop for a box of primers! >:D ("WHAT THE BLUE HELL ARE YOU DOING??? I'VE BEEN SITTING IN THE CAR FOR TWO HOURS!!!")

I OWN a gun shop and still shop at WGS when I need certain reloading components like reloading dies or case lube. That should tell you something! Joe has always taken care of me for the things I don't carry myself.

I haven't bought a firearm from OGC yet, but I would given the right one. I think, and I've said it before, the issue here is perception can become reality. When I was first going to the old store I thought they had basically nothing. Carter then tells me he's got several hundred firearms :o in the back and just ask if I want to see something else. My perception is that they are small and have nothing which is the furthest thing from the truth. They are doing a much better job at displaying what they've got now.
I think the same thing goes for how people perceive Carter. If you perceive someone to be a certain way, then to you that is the truth. All I can do is go by my own experiences or from those who I trust.

Really, you'd be surprised.
All it takes is for someone to ask for a sale price that ended the previous week and be denied and then suddenly I was a raging jerk to them.
When I say no and am asked "Come on, just this once" and I say no, and then they say "But I bought two glocks from you (at the best price in the state), can't you be more grateful to me" and I say "Sorry, no the sale is over"
If you (Im not pointing fingers, Im saying anyone) really have a problem, and you are too much of a petulant coward board troll or liar to send an email to us explaining why you felt you received poor service than there is not much I can do.
At that point you are seeking to damage us rather than make things better.
Anonymously posting without having the maturity to make any attempt whatsoever (even if the attempt is anonymous!) to rectify the situation is a the ultimate sign of liar or of a even more sinister agenda.
This is a for-profit business, not a school yard. If people make attacks on us that they know to be false its even considered illegal.
That being said I have to remove myself from this. I'm getting worked up and my entire livelihood is tied up in this, not just a hobby. This is what puts food on my children's table. When you attack me you are not just saying I dont like that guy, you are attacking my whole family and ability to make a living. Now you understand why I was the only one of the shop owners participating in these forums and now that has to come to an end.

I am very sorry to hear this... although I am new to the forums and the firearms community, it was actually pretty cool to see one of the shop owners post on the forums and in a way, really engage with the community. I have met you a few times...and you were always really friendly as with yout staff. For a first timer into a gun shop it was pretty intimidating... plus I think ya'll went on a smoke break right as I came up to the door. Heh. But ya'll talked with me, had me check out some of the firearms, and a few visits later, I purchased my first firearm (Remington 870) which was a really big deal for me. Although I probably could have gotten something much cheaper at say, Sports Authority (I'm chinese...and pretty chang), I intentionally made the decision to spend the money (which I later found out was quite a deal) at OGC because I liked the staff and the support I received.
However, I do understand where you are coming from... it's just too bad that the anonymity of internet trolls often get the better of us.
Hmm, to lighten the mood....if only ALL internet trolls sounded like this...

I don't think this makes any sense. You have the ability to see customer feedback, interact with customers, and present a good light. Even if you were not here, these threads on the forum would pop up. I don't see how leaving is any benefit.
Some people are not going to like you; people will talk about you; and you will lose and gain business from both.

I understand where you are coming from, but the amount of time I spend fending off trolls, no integrity competitors and people with their own agendas is becoming too high of a price to pay. If someone wants to give me feedback, I hope they make it directly. I just cannot keep doing this when I need to maintain focus on the two ranges. Please understand that even though we have a loyal, trustworthy internet and forum friendly customer base, that makes up probably less than 10% of or revenue. I have 100 range memberships and over 500 applicants. I have to focus on making things happen. If something happens online one of you guys thinks I should be made aware of please let me know!

I'd encourage you to stay on the forum, and I wouldn't worry too much about the trolls. Most people that are on board here have enough common sense to question the assertions of people with two posts to their credit when they start bashing on a local gun store.

Absolutely nothing I said was illegal, as I only stated the truth of my experience. It boggles my mind that people would be so offended that I conveyed what I happened to experience. I bought a firearm from Carter, because it was a good price. I sat through his condescending attitude, and I now choose to patronize other local gun shops.
If this forum isn't mature enough to handle an honest discussion on what happened there because I chose to actually, God forbid, register on this forum and give a voice to my opinion on a subject I happened to have experience with; then perhaps the first amendment just doesn't have a place here.
I'm so sorry for treading on the sacred reputation of OGC, perhaps if Carter paid a little more attention to how he treats his customers, and the perception he creates; I wouldn't have had this experience. As I stated previously, they have good prices and I do think it is a good shop, I just didn't enjoy the way I was treated by ONE employee/owner.
Open discussion of things we experience as gun owners in the local shops in Hawaii should NOT be kapu!

You have the right to free speech, which as far as I can tell, hasn't been infringed. However, this being a moderated website that none of us are paying to use, you wouldn't have a free speech leg to stand on if the mods did delete your comments or account. At any rate, what you're saying isn't that your first amendment rights are being trampled, you're saying that now you're mad because people aren't flocking to agree with you, and are questioning the validity of your comments.
People are welcome to debate the pros and cons of each shop, and often do. But criticism attracts a lot less flak when you're someone people know, i.e. you've showed up at the range, been to a meet and greet, or just spent enough time posting on this site that people know you're a level-headed guy who's not prone to making outlandish, false claims. Right now you're like a guy on the street who grabs peoples' arm as they're headed into a restaurant and says, "Don't eat there! The food sucks, the service is lousy, I did NOT enjoy my experience!" You may be right on the money, for all I know, but I have no frame of reference with which to gauge the validity of your claims, which means I and most others are going to take them with a huge grain of salt, especially in light of the fact that every single one of your two posts has been negative towards a single local business.

I am going to go ahead and +1 this and what Cougar had to say. Nice to see your first post on the site was to bash a local gun dealer and the second was to defend yourself. Welcome to the shark tank noob.
It has nothing to do with maturity, it has to do with credibility.
You had a shitty experience in a gun shop, you bash the guy personally, on a privately owned website. Maybe your first two posts on here are evidence of how you act in person. Maybe you were part of the problem, maybe not.
Who knows? ???

True story. I don't know this Carter fellow, but I rather doubt that he's such a raging dickhead that people who deal with him are inspired to go home, google up 2ahawaii, sign up for accounts, and let us all know about his douchebaggery.
I still think you're not reading a thing I type. I'm asking you, practically begging you, to send me the details of your negative experience with me, even anonymously, and you just ignore it. Are you out to hurt OGC? Or were you really offended/treated poorly and would like it not to happen again, which can be rectified by sharing with me how we, or apparently I, went wrong?. Do you really like the shop and prices or are you merely saying that so your attacks seem more moderate and considered?
You perceive people are jumping on you to defend OGC? Have you considered the possibility that they didn't have the negative experience you had? That it was perhaps a fluke or communications problem?
And I get called a wannabe "know-it-all" and its not a personal attack? Would you like to consider the military and civilian shooting and gunsmithing courses I have attended? Or perhaps the fact I passed the certification courses for Glock and Remington? Or that I'm a certified and current NRA Instructor? Or that I personally own in my collection many of the firearms we sell and I'm an active shooter and competition pistol shooter and I'm more than willing to share what I learned? Or that I have a constant stream of military and law enforcement customers that share their experiences with me about what actually worked in the line of fire and I consider their experiences when deciding what to carry?
Maybe what you perceive as a know it all is someone who actually knows what the hell he is talking about and when it conflicts with your thoughts or personal experiences suddenly I'm a wannabe know-it-all? I'll tell you right now, son. I'm a be (I hope you get that, I thought it was really clever when I typed it)

OK I take offense to being called "not mature enough to handle an honest discussion...." I appreciate that you took your 15 minutes to register on the forum and write your 2 posts of personal input into the matter. You can look up my posts (if you so chose to waste more of your time), and see I'm not a nut hanger.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask admin for a ID/IP verification. When you throw down smack on your first post just like another totally new user bells ring.

Perhaps it is you who is not reading a thing that I've typed. The details of my experiences with you were that you acted like a 'condescending douche.' I do not appreciate it when I am not treated with respect in any situation, let alone when I am handing over my hard earned money, whilst I patronize someone's business. I am not out to hurt OGC in any way, I was simply empathizing with a fellow poster on an experience I had in your establishment. I do not seek
rectification to the situation, as I gave you a few chances and you proved your demeanour time and time again. I acknowledge that you have good prices, and I choose to pay more to be treated with respect. It just so happens that this is the first time I chose to voice my opinion on something in this forum, I am not the most social of shooters or most active of computer users. I'm sorry if it offends some on the forum that I don't have a lengthy history here.
I'm glad you are proud of your 'resume' in regard to firearms. I'm sure many are impressed when you say you shoot competetively and have taken these courses. There's just no way anyone else could possible garner information on simple mechanics for themselves without your dispensing it. You're definitely a 'be.' I'm sure anyone who has been to one of the competitions can attest to your great skill. Maybe a class on customer service is in order next?
If you do not like the issues I seem to have brought to light, like I said before, perhaps you should take more care in the way you treat those who choose to shop at your establishment, after all as you pointed out, they provide for you and your family. Your employees certainly do not have the same problem, and I wholeheartedly appreciated the way in which they treated me; it's just too bad that sometimes one bad apple spoils the bunch.
As for your cheerleaders, I'm glad you have such loyal supporters, however, I seriously doubt I am the only person whom you have treated this way. A bit of advice, try to be cheerful, or at the very least, respectful. If you are having a bad day, perhaps you should hand the shop over to your employees while you go out and take a break, relax, and maybe even cheer up. In the long run your business will do better with return customers if I'm not some sort of isolated incident.
Good luck.

not to drag this up more but maybe an example (which I found humor in but the customer didn't :P )
customer: hey is the range open?
dude at counter: do you hear gunfire?
(no soup for you!)
ROFL!!! ok I can be a wise ass too so can see the humor in it. but others not used to that kind of humor could / did get offended. I hope they can laugh about it now though!
see you soon mr. carter for that glass encased goodie which I been too sick lately to get the paperwork going on. heh heh.

For whatever its worth, take it or leave it, Carter & Eugene have always been more than helpful and a pleasure to do business with what I can tell is some of the best pricing on the island. Even some of the accessories they sell, hanging on the wall are competitive with Internet shopping. I will add though that I kind of miss the old "hole in the wall" shop which had a different feel and stairmaster workout to get to and from, don't get me wrong, the new shop is awesome and I look forward to the opening of the indoor range. As for the parking situation, if you want to get what you need, then keep circling the block till you find a stall or try the weekend when the other businesses in the area are closed. I don't think its too different from anyplace else, not like parking is readily available everywhere, Magnum has like 3 stalls, Young Guns has like 7, and the new place in Waipahu you have to call to get in, So I've read. I'd venture a guess that even if OGC's new location had 5 times as many stalls (maybe like 30?), there would still be a guys complaining about not enough parking, maybe more guys should carpool, lol...and two cents

So i stopped by today. Good thing they have a map and store hours on the webpage, never been there before. Easy to find though. Had to circle around once and got a stall as someone was leaving. As i was getting out my car another guy pulled up and asked if i was going to be a while and if it was cool to bock me in, didnt matter to me. Went inside. Then inside the other room. Was kinda surprised. Store is pretty big. Nice and clean. Well lit. Display glass was clean. I was looking for a gun cleaning kit for my XDs. Never did buy one before so had a rough list of what i was looking to purchase. One guy helped me out, said this all in one kit would be best since i have multiple guns in different calibers. Walked around a bit more looking at the guns. They have super reasonable prices, i was actually shocked and offended other places charge so much!(joke, kinda). Talked to another guy(younger guy), talked for a bit about ammo. Ended up grabbing a box. Was about to pay and he noticed i had the rifle kit not the pistol kit so he showed me the difference and whatnot. Paid then dug out. As i was leaving had 2 others looking for parking.
Overall was a good experience. Nice shop. Nice people. Great prices. I wanted to ask who carter was but was small kind shame to be walking in and asking like im someone important. I will definatly head back to buy more ammo when the time is right, prices seem really good to me. Also might be picking up my next 223/762 from them.
Oh and this is coming from someone not raised with guns, fisrt time ownership and a whole lot of learning to stil do so pretty much no experience

Definitely a nice shop.
Carter, by the way, is the guy running the cash register.
-
Good to hear someone sharing good experiences. I've honestly never had a bad experience anywhere.
-
Oh that guy is carter, next time i stop by ill be sure to introduce myself.
Also noticed how the sensitive type can easily take offense to things said. Todays example
Guy behind me has 2 boxes ammo.
Asked "how he likes it in his rifle"
Customer says he gets a lot of drop. .5 or something like that i believe (dunno what that means)
"How far away are you shooting"
customer, 25yrds
"Well thats not much drop for that range"
Customer decideds he just wants one box instead.
I personally dont think it was offensive or anything, but everyone interpets things differently. Still love the shop though.
By the way, where will the shooting range be? I noticed the chairs and stuff in that first room you enter in, as well as another door. Just curious.

Was still off King St tucked in a back alley a couple floors above some massage parlors last time I was there.

Just wanted to post how great my visit was to OGC yesterday. I was referred to them from AR15.com and glad I went.
I did something I usually dont do and took the wife; the staff was very nice, friendly and answered all my wifes newbie questions. The staff let her handle the "pretty" guns with no attitude at all.
I also was eye shopping with questiions and all of the staff was responsive. I have a decent collection and could tell the staff knew their weapons. The prices were mainland comparable, which was awesome to see.
Anyway, it was a great experience and went so well ( the wife was impressed with the customer service and commented how nice everyone was) I have the green light for my next purchase, which will definately be from OGC.
Thanks Carter and Staff, I'll be back soon for the HK45 ! :D

Oh that's cool. I was the young kid asking about the saiga AKs and standing around in the way when she asked the question about what that was on the barrel. I ended up grabbing some ammo. For suire its a nix sv

The wife was probably in your way..... on the bright side, the HK45 will be mine very soon!
The Saiga is a great weapon, an AK is next on the list.

Is it a JK pistol or rifle? O assume rifle. They have nice guns. And a assult rifle will be my next purchase too

I think most guys would love it if their wife shared the same enthusiasm. I ask stupid questions all the time. You'll never know if you never ask...

I wouldn't ask anything if I didn't ask dumb questions... Plus that's not all that dumb of a question:-)

Today a guy came in and asked " is the range open yet?"
Carter answered "did you find parking on our property?"
The guy said "yes"
Carter then said, " well there's your answer"
Hahaha, I'm sorry but that was funny.
