For all the legality nerds out there... Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't AR pistol lowers nontransferable here in Hawaii. Not sure, but would like some clarification on this. Thanks!
-
AR recievers are just plain receivers.
No law restricts the transfer of them.
HPD just doesn't want them to be transferred. ( so I heard ) .
A lawsuit would be required to correct there skewed interpretation of the law.

So can I purchase a pistol lower and register it without a welded magazine if it just stays stripped?

yeap!
It can have a detachable magazine if its not semi auto.
-
If not semi, what else would it be? Sorry if it's a dumb question...

Single shot
Bolt action
Pump action

Without the gas system, the bolt and carrier group will not unlock and manually charging is required to chamber the next round.
-
I see. So if I don't install a gas tube, it wont be considered a semi because it won't cycle unless I manually charge it. Nice to know... Thanks for the clarification suka. Wasn't planning on building one, but read something that got my brain gears turning and needed to find out...

Nice upper btw...

Suka, do you know if the AK pistol bolt system is shorter than a standard bolt, or are they the same?

Franklin Armory DFM Magazine should be able to bypass the definition of an assault pistol.

Hawaii does not define how a fixed magazine is not detachable, thus HPD makes up its own shit and takes the most stringent definition possible. Only another lawsuit will make them change the definition.

From my conversation with HPD : If you can remove the magazine and put another one in its a detachable magazine, Even if you have to take the gun part to do it.
-
I did wonder if you can make it so the bolt locks back after every shot requiring manipulation of the release to chamber a round.
-
Look in the AR pistol thread here, someone solder the mag in and HPD denied it. There was also another design that they denied

Troy makes pump action AR15s. So you could have a pistol version of the pump AR15 and the lower would be registered as a pistol.
