The AK isn't indestructible, and all AK fanboys need to realize it.
I'm an AK fanboy and I already know it has its limitations.
I suspected that because the AK has loser tolerances, water was able to penetrate around the bolt more effectively and freeze the moving parts more thoroughly.
Does this mean I would take an AR over an AK after this test? Absolutely not; especially considering that once the AK was able to warm up enough after a few rounds, it functioned perfectly.

The one thing I've noticed recently is a turn on Magpul. People are killing them now for a lot of their products, especially their AK mags. I guess that's what happens when you become really popular.

Popularity demands quality.
They were told that polymer lugs and feed lips that weren't reinforced were a terrible idea, taking a cue from the Tapco mags. Sure, the Tapco mags are cheap and work good enough, but they wear out after frequent use.
Given the hate they have received on the AK mags, they are currently designing a steel reinforced feed lip magazine, and I think that will solve all the problems. If they can manufacture and distribute the mags under $15 like they do their AR mags, they will corner the mag market.
I was shocked to see the stock failure, but know it won't affect me.

Being that my AR15 will never see those ice cold conditions I guess I don't have to worry about malfunctions due to extreme cold. I stayed at my brother's place in Ohio when they had 3 days of temps at -10. Extreme cold sucks. You get problems with water pipes, car batteries and a lot of other thing you don't normally think about.

I dont know why people are so focused on extreme tests of their equipment. I would test myself if I could work in such an extreme environment. Ice bucket yourself before your equipment. Roll around in sand. Can you still function? Can you respond to a threat fast enough after a quick dunk in mud, sand, snow?
