Title: The pride and smugness of the Republican Party elites in full display
Post by: Bunker on March 16, 2016, 08:13:44 PM
Republican convention rules member told CNBC today that the delegates choose the GOP nominee, not the people, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories.

Sad part is if they deny Trump the nomination, said me won't vote or if Trump goes off on his own, his followers will go with him. If they give him the go ahead, the there will be Rubio, Kaisch, Cruz, Bush, etc that will not vote thus our next president will be Hillary. Time to stock up on air rifles and pistols! All of this because of sheer stupidity....

They are nuts.  The GOP is so out of touch it is nauseating.   The establishment is done, their FAILURES to stop the left wing invasion and terrorism is now coming full circle.  This country is in a bad place if they ignore the people.

I am not a huge Trump fan in this, but if they pull a stunt, the left side will win.....  Then WE all lose.

I posted this on the other Trump thread where I had posted the link to that video of the RNC guy saying the primary voters don't matter... just want to make sure everyone gets a chance to see it if they are really interested in how the "elite" control things...

If anyone wants to get into the weeds of the arcane "rules" of the RNC re delegates, challenges, voting, etc.:

How the GOP Elite Plan To Rob Donald Trump

Cleveland, ladies and gentlemen, won’t be for the faint of heart

Despite his historic run in the primaries, Trump will never, repeat never, get the nomination if this bunch can stop him. Forget about them conceding Trump the victory once he gets to the magic 1237 (Fifty percent of the available delegates). They’ve cooked up a strategy to be employed at all costs to steal delegates from Trump so that he’ll fall below the 1237 on the first ballot, and then, before the second ballot to present one of their group (Mitt Romney, call your office) as the Savior of the Grand Old Party. While each state’s individual law governs, most delegates are not bound to the candidate that brought them once the first ballot is over. Stall Trump on the first ballot and the Bush-Romney-Rubio-Kasich-Ryan-McConnell combine can go really to work.

I wonder if there will be a revolution in 2016....starting to look that way.

Well, looks like the Shillary Plant that is Trump is looking that way too. I had thought that to force the nomination onto him (blocking the "going independent" route) would prevent the splintering. But it seems "They" really have this whole game tied up and calls the shots however the people vote.

Technically they are right. The GOP is a private organization, not a government entity and they get to make up rules on how their candidate is chosen.

Makes me wonder how all the 3rd parties choose their candidates because I have never heard of their primaries.

If the GOP continues down this road the party is done.

Say what you will about Trump, he has laid bare the rotten core of American politics.
