Yeah, like that's never happened before. Or should it be "Like that's ever NOT happened before"?
I'm sure once the governor gets all the emails, and he and his staff read the testimony submitted opposing those bills that he will rationally evaluate the evidence and veto the bills. Right? :geekdanc: :shake:

They have no fear of reprisal. Hope you vote....

I thought it likely that HiCarry or JI808 would (but they haven't so far) post the latest (yesterday, Friday the 29th) emailed HRA request to use the NRA-ILA site "take action" button to send more emails AGAIN, even if you already have.

There has been no indication what he will do, but that being said, I think the general consensus is that he will sign.

Passed by huge majorities of both houses. He might be hesitating momentarily while he has his staff check and double check to see if anyone has claimed that they were "annoyed" by receiving two unsolicited emails from him.

Just a reminder, you can't send too many emails. They never acknowledge they've received even one. At least from me. I seriously doubt it makes any difference in the numbers we're amassing, but it couldn't hurt, i don't think...

Today in Hawaii Free Press an article from NRA's America's First Freedom re "Rap Back" SB2954 as well as the article from NRA-ILA a few days earlier (you might want to click the linnk above and send a few more emails to Ige, every day... :shaka:) :

Hawaii Bill Would Database Gun Owners For Special Scrutiny
by Marshall Lewin, NRA, America’s First Freedom, May 30, 2016
Excerpt:
The fact that "rap back" will flag people who have only been arrested, but not necessarily convicted—in other words, only accused but not proven to have committed any crime—is acceptable to some people who say that the mere possibility of harm to children is worth the cost to constitutional rights.

“Rap Back”: A New Federal Firearm Registry
From NRA-ILA, May 27, 2016
As part of the FBI’s Next Generation Identification Program, the agency is implementing what it calls the “Rap Back” service. “Rap Back” provides law enforcement agencies – at their request – ongoing alerts on specific individuals. Once a person is entered into the system, the requesting agency is alerted whenever a new record is entered into an FBI database for that person. Such records include criminal arrests, warrants, convictions, and, in certain cases, the outcomes of civil proceedings. The primary intended use of “Rap Back” appears to be for persons on probation, those who are the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation, or for others in highly sensitive positions, such as those with security clearances. A new bill in Hawaii, however, would require all lawful gun owners in the state to be entered into the system. This is clearly not the intended purpose of the new system.

I've been emailing the governor about these bills at least once a day using the NRA automated system. I've also sent at least a couple through the .gov website. I have never even once received acknowledgement of receipt of any communications from me, let alone an actual response to the content.
I just email Governor Rick Scott of Florida about some bullshit law there that requires people to prove they are innocent of any self-defense acts, having been assumed guilty until they can prove themselves otherwise. In other words, a standing on its head of the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". Within one minute I received a reply email acknowledging receipt of my email. How hard would it be for Hawaii's government bureaucrats to do the same? Too hard apparently.
Okay, I gotta go send Ige more emails 'cause he nokeah.

Why would he stoop to acknowledging the peasants?
It's not an election year for him.

You really think he'll stoop to acknowledge the peasants in an election year? The donors, maybe... I know, I'll send him an email and ask him about that... :geekdanc:

If your e-mailing him about guns he knows your not voting for him anyway so.......

So is 2954 going to enter all currently registered gun owners into the rapback DB? Or just new ones that buy from some arbitrary date?
-
So does anyone think the NRA will help us out or leave us hung out on our own.

hung out. just a wild guess. based on every other egregious hawaii anti-firearm civil rights law in recent history.

"Hey, those people live in paradise, we don't wanna any complaining from them."
Hawaii is just "small potatoes", so even though Baker was essentially the same legal challenge as Peruta and Richards, and all three thus argued before the same three judge panel at the same time, only Peruta and Richards went to the en banc panel (though that also at least partially has to do with the specific legal details of the sought remedies). Any Hawaii case that might make it the federal appellate level means that it is being adjudicated in the Ninth Circuit, the most "liberal" circuit, and highly unlikely to support any Second Amendment right of any consequence (See Peruta: there is no constitutional right to concealed carry), and thus legal funds can be spent much more productively in other circuits. Lucky we live Hawaii! :shaka:

Does anyone know the answer to my question?

Hey, who’d have ever thought we’d have secret lists with which to deny citizens rights without due process? Plus it’s not like the government hasn’t already put whole “disfavored” groups of people into internment camps.
