Title: Possible end to Hunts on Lanai
Post by: HBS1 on November 25, 2011, 06:13:33 AM
Maybe everyone already discussed this or perhaps and hopefully just a rumour, but I was told that the hunting on Lanai may be coming to an end, due to the land owner (Murdock)have decided to stop allowing hunting on his lands, something to do with conflicts and the wind farm?.  Anyone know the facts?

It was big talk last year, they suspected last years deer season might be the last.  Lana'i community was all divided, some for the wind farm, some against.  I heard earlier this year that we have at least a few more years.  I think I saw it as an update on the Lana'i Hunting facebook page lol

Let them go and when the deer start eating all the vegetation and the land starts to erode away then there going to be crying for the hunters to come back. Kauai is really bad and infested with goat. So much it's pushing the deer out of the mountains. But the DLNR don't do nothing. They say they do eradication but how can you eradicate something when you put a bag limit and only let a certain amount of people hunt.

Didn't know that about Kauai, terrible.  Maybe that was goat I just ate..  a friend gave me some smoked meat from some hunting he did on Kauai, never told me what it was.   O0

DLNR has no funding, no manpower, maybe that's why they aren't doing anything?  Or maybe they just aren't sure what they're doing.

Maui.... Infested with deer..... So says the Maui News and others....

Let the locals hunt.

Let's work it out....

Let the hunter's hunt... Let's feed our families. Put meat in the freezer.

Let the hunter's hunt and put the extra meat in the mouth's of the hungry.....to the food banks freezers...

Lets open up some land??? A two deer hunt... One for the hunter... one for the Maui Food Bank????

Lana'i has a new owner.  News says he may move forward with the wind farms.  Public hunting on Lana'i is in jeopardy once again.
