As David Codrea wrote the other day, occasionally ad hominem and name-calling is warranted: what a fucking idiot. IMHO.

I do give a FK what people say/think and vote with my wallet every chance I get.  There are always plenty of other places with good food to give my money to.  If enough people do the same these idiots will be other be out of business or change their tune.  That's the strategy the left uses but to a more radical degree.  I won't watch movies starring Actors that use their celebrity status to advance agendas I don't agree with. So yeah, I don't watch a lot of movies either.

Looking at their website, the total tone of it is that they really aren't catering to we redneck realists.

I think the expression is "artsy-fartsy."

I appreciate good art, music, and architecture as well as the next redneck, but too often I find that "appreciation" of the "fine arts" goes hand in hand with political viewpoints with which I disagree.

The correlation isn't perfect, but strong enough for me.

OK, but be that as it may, what gets to me is when these people insist on foisting their self-righteous attitudes on me.

So, fine art, crystal goblets, fine dining experience, magnificent stained glass windows notwithstanding, if they're going to make a public statement reflecting negatively on a fundamental civil right, I think they're no better than the racists who used to have signs banning negroes (blacks, nowadays) from their establishments.

So, in clear realistic redneck verbiage, "Fuck 'em, the assholes."

Seems like the post in question was removed, but this is the following post.

Quote
My facebook post last night was born from a simple question from my younger sister which was about whether my daughter was going to march with her worthy organization in the PRIDE parade in Portland this weekend. My response was, “No.” No, because I just don’t want to run the risk of having my daughter in a group of happy and proud people celebrating equality in a public space in a city that I love because I am scared. I let the fear win. I let the actions of dozens of lunatics over several years change the way I look at the world around me. My first thought about large gatherings was fear. It was then I realized that I am living in a world I don’t even recognize anymore.

When my children grow up and they ask me what I did to help change the course of gun violence will I say to them, I liked some face book memes and talked to like- minded people about our outrage and sadness. I signed some petitions relatively anonymously and held moments of silence? I felt sorry for the children in elementary school and children in movie theatres? Or will I say that I used the loudest voice I knew to shout my outrage and condemn the violence and beg for change in the most effective way I could see. Will I stand on the right side of history?

I don’t want to take away guns of responsible gun owners. I don’t care if you have 12 hunting rifles if you are a responsible hunter. I want people to not have the power to own weapons of war. I want our government to be able to deny someone they can put on the “no fly” lists to not buy a semi-automatic weapon. If you do not understand why I do not want a weapon designed to kill at that kind of rate of speed in my restaurants then there is nothing I can do about that. But I am not going to hide behind not politicizing myself for fear of my economic security. If evil and hate want to boycott my restaurants then so be it because I believe good will be on my side on this. As long as my doors are open I will believe that love is love. And when my children ask me where I was on this, I will say I was right there, fighting for a better world for us and for all those people who lost their lives.

Let it not go unsaid, the vitriol spewed to my original post validates my fear. However, I am still in control of my reaction. My reaction is the love that I have for my family, friends, employees and loyal guests whom I hope to constantly shower with respect and human decency regardless of what is said of me.

From the comments, it appears that they were "willing to give up business revenue to promote what you think is right" and that included barring gun owners, particularly AR-15s.

They should be applauded for their courage to stand up for what they sincerely believe in, but should be denounced for their stupidity of being tricked by communists into helping disarm fellow Americans.

Looks like the original post from Tuesday was deleted (Hillary??).

They basically said, anyone who owns an AR-15 is BANNED from entering their restaurant.  How they will be able to know that unless they ask you (and you answer in the affirmative), I have no clue.

Today, there is a new explanatory post, (already posted here) calling anyone who disagrees with her "evil" and "hate", and she welcomes a boycott by them.

So they have the right to refuse to do business with customers they don't like?

I thought that was illegal because the cake shop did the same thing?

(Personally I think businesses should have the right to refuse to do business for whatever reason but there are people who say that is discriminatory and can be used for racists excuses; of course when it comes to guns, anything that furthers the disarmament timeline will be allowed).

I suppose she has someone who can hack into the government databases to determine who may own an AR platform rifle, and will conduct this background check at the entrance to the restaurant. Otherwise she will have to believe whatever people tell her, and who knows, a terrorist might lie to her (or own a semi-automatic rifle with a pistol grip and barrel shroud in a platform other than AR).

In her updated comment today she claims she doesn't want "semi-automatic weapons" in [her] restaurant, which, depending on the specifics of state and local law, she may very well be entitled to announce and post as a policy. But, again, she'd have to do a total body pat down and search to confirm that people aren't carrying concealed. That should go over well with the "love is love is love is love etc." crowd.

She also asserts "I want people to not have the power to own weapons of war". That phrase is already a cliche. A cliche of ignorance. 1. Please list the wars, past or present, wear combatants have used or are using semi-automatic-only AR platform rifles. 2. Since many  makes and models of handguns are used in military situations, including wars, what she really wants is a ban on any handguns used anywhere by any military personnel, or more precisely, any handgun.

I almost wish I patronized facebook just to ask her about her "arguments". But, hell no...

Why people would want to patronize a business that would want to ban them, despise them, etc is beyond me.  Go elsewhere...  I've stopped shopping at places or internet vendors, even choosing to spend money more money, for much less.  Hell if I'm going to insist that a business take my money.

7 step process

1: go to restaurant
2: order food
3: eat 75% of food
4: call staff and notify them that you own an ar-15
5: owner proceeds to kick you out
6:  ? ? ? ? ?
7: profit

[Clarification of profit: Free food, they cant reasonably make you pay if you are not letting you finish your meal.)

I don't think gun owners will patronize that business BUT they should still denounce it.

Otherwise it is like having restaurants that say NO ASIANS OR BLACKS ALLOWED and then letting it slide.

I was thinking about the story involving the cake shop.  I am not going to support a business that flat out opposes my view points.

And I'm all for boycotting, denouncing, etc business that call to ban me.  Like I said above, I've boycotted business for less.

There's an "old rumor" that someone had gained unauthorized access to the Hilo "registration" files and the addresses were being targeted by burglars in order to steal firearms. Unsubstantiated rumor, of course. I am not casting any aspersions upon the Hawaii County Hilo PD records division regarding their security policies and practices. Just a rumor. Still, I'd rather not be on any list at all subject to any intrusion and theft of my personal information.

That's why I will continue to submit the following bill to legislators every year (no takers/sponsors so far...): "HRS 134 (repealed)". Short. Sweet. To the point. Solves a lot of problems.

Let me be clear, this is not a political issue. This is a human rights issue.

Yet it is clearly. unequivocally, boldly and baldly stated as a fundamental civil right in the highest law of the land.  For clear and even present-day political reasons.

Yet "gun-free zones" such as you describe are the actual ones being targeted by my aforementioned predatory people.

I do not understand your accusation.  Developing various skills, be they target shooting with firearms or in archery, throwing a baseball over the plate, fine-tuning your poker playing, or enhancing your skill in cooking a fine meal are all part and parcel of being a human being.  To not advance in any of these pursuits and others is to resemble an unthinking insect.

Except the "darkness" to which you refer is universal in the form of the evil predators to which I referred.  And in insisting that we ban the tools to resist this evil, you are naught but abetting it.

I would be ashamed, as a parent and a human, if I did not use this platform to speak up.
Thus you have, and encountered reasoned resistance to your stand.

How many people have to bury their loved ones before we say together, "no more."
Somehow, I am reminded of Prime Minister Chamberlain's claims of  "Peace in our time" in 1938, a year prior to September of 1939.  You remember what happened then, don't you?

Her remarks are so typical of the wooly-headed attitudes of those who have never encountered genuine, hard-core evil and violence in the real world.  As I say, sometimes it takes a good mugging or a good tyranny to wake some peope up.

Rminds me of a local restaurant near my home that I refuse to eat at, though the wife want to try it.

Looked at their website.  Prominent in the introduction is:

"We are a Slow Food establishment committed to “a food system that is based on the principles of high quality and taste, environmental sustainability, and social justice."

What on earth "social justice" has to do with a restaurant, I am mystified, but it is obvious they have a liberal ax to grind.

No thanks, especially when I found out "slow food" means taking several hours to serve everything..............

These places can wear their liberal hair shirts all they want, but advertising it is a good thing, so as to avoid granting them a cent of profit.
