Wow 1850 fps is moving for a 22lr. I wonder how the 21gr will stabilize out of a 16 twist barrel? I have some Aguila Super Maximum ammo. They are horrible accuracy wise out of 16 twist. They are 30gr lead plated @ 1750 fps.

I like to try a little of whatever I can get my hands on as far as rimfire ammo. This is MSRP $10.95/ 50. No thank you that's more than I pay for match grade stuff. If Inspector tells me it's shooting 1/4" @ 50 than I'll try some ;D

I'll have to try some if I ever see any for sale here. I have spent more on Eley and RWS ammo just to try them. When I see new .22 ammo I start to drool and my heart starts palpitating. I have to think you are correct though. It probably won't stabilize in most .22 barrels with a 1 in 16 twist. But I can see some company making a barrel that can stabilize and shoot these well eventually.

Absolutely. I know you've seen some guys build 1:9 10/22s just to shoot the Aguila Sniper Sub Sonic (60gr) round. Some people have too much money. Lol
I'm sure we aren't the only two who are really passionate about rimfire 22s. I probably have over 25 different types of 22lr around. I see a bunch of guys at the range, they're either lurkers on here or non members.

I'm just beginning to enjoy my .22lr - where can I get RWS or Eley - I've tried RWS which I've grown addicted to. But where's a good place for Eley? And other suggestions on good .22 ammo

556, the general rule with 22lr is to buy a box of whatever ammo you find. You run test with each and when you find what your gun likes, you go back and buy bricks or cases of the same lot. Accuracy will change with the same brand from lot to lot. Seasoning the barrel before shooting groups will help. RWS and Eley are both good ammo but be open to try others. Realistically your CZ should do 1/2" @ 50 if you do your part and make good wind calls. IMO

WGS has a wide variety of good 22lr. Prices are high. Check Prime Sports as he brings in higher end stuff too. Most others bring in mid range to low end bulk stuff.

I'm guessing here but I think the non lead projectile is for hunting. Certain places have restrictions for lead.

Not only for places having lead restrictions. It is marketed under the PolyCase brand for self defense in larger calibers:

CCI is the first to market this bullet in a .22. Using a .22 LR for self defense is subjective at best. Even a .22 magnum is subjective but it is better than nothing.

Me no like frangibles. Me like big wound cavities. The bigger the better. For self defense. It will be lotsa years but lead is on the way out.

Being that this composite bullet acts similar to a frangible, I highly doubt it will expand a large amount or any other 22lr for that case. I understand the over-penetration issue with a SD situation. For me that is secondary. My first and foremost priority would to stop the threat.

It might be desirable. If a bullet passes through then that means some of the energy wasn't transferred into the target.

Thanks for sharing, the more info we have the better informed we are. This composite bullet thing is brand new to me but the "best SD round" has been around since forever. I'm sorry, I'm just not buying into it quite yet. I'm just thinking a 85gr composite vs a 147gr expandible.

A young clerk at SEC recently told me that If more velocity and accuracy was desired, just lube bare lead .22s with gun oil just prior to shooting. He also told me the barrel would be a lot easier to clean. Any believers or is my gullibility showing? ???

That is why they had to redesign the bullet. The polymer bullet wouldn't expand so they but those cut outs that do damage in a different way according to one article. The weight did stick out to me too though.

Checked out 2 walmarts and 3 gun shops in Sacramento and could only find CCI .22 shot shells on the shelf at one shop all the rest of the shops are 86 on .22lr seems .22lr is really popular here. They are also pushing ccw to any resident who is interested in getting a gun!

I don't think it has anything to do with the popularity of 22lr in California as it does with the strict gun laws there and moreso the hoarders. There's plenty up in OR and WA or at least until the upcoming election. Maybe you should order online and have it shipped to where you are staying. #11 equates to about 2 1/2 bricks. Bring me back some :shaka: :shaka: :shaka:
