Sorry I haven't been tracking what this film is about, is it anti-gun?
Where does the ticket money go? Hopefully not to the producers of the film. I'd like to see the film but not pay money to them, but I can't find it free online. I wonder if we can just attend the discuss for free after the film.

this is the video where katie couric and her producer got someone to do a straw purchase across state lines to demonstrate how easy it is to buy guns
committing multiple felonies in the process
then they edited a group interview with a pro-gun group to make it seem they had no answer to a question that they answered immediately
fortunately, they were smart enough to videotape the interview and exposed the producers
even the ultra-liberal washington post was appalled at their reporting

Not 100% certain, but I think the money would go to HMA. Doubt I will be able to make this, but if we gun folk could get out in force to support Harvey, I think that would make a fine statement.

So let me see if I got this right. They not only documented themselves committing felonious activities, they demonstrated that gun control laws don't do anything to prevent criminals from breaking them?

Amazing how they then turn, twist, and spin it to be anti-gun after the fact...
They also make Hitlery look like the best thing since sliced bread too....

I will reluctantly attend. Some of the ticket money is probably going to the film producers which I don't like, but I think it's more important to support Harvey and have some presence there. I might be able to talk to people who are on the fence there and bring them to our side.
I've noticed there are very few dedicated antigun people that come out to events. I figure most of the people attending this may be on the fence or lean towards antigun, but need more information to make a decision. Could be a good way to give them the correct information.

i doubt anyone on the fence will be there
it will be one side, or the other

BUMP!
Anyone else attending? It says the box office closes at 4:30pm so buy your tickets online prior to.

As this is OBVIOUSLY ANTI GUN PROPAGANDA and it is unlikely you (we) would be able to participate in the "post-screening discussion with special guests, Senator Will Espero and president of the Hawaii Rifle Association, Harvey Gerwig" I would recommend NOT buying tickets, DONATE your $10.00 to the Honolulu Museum of Art IN THE NAME of 2a and BOYCOTT / PICKET this lie outside of the Museum.
Probably get more press and we get the "Good Guy" award for still donating to the Museum.

HRA is asking for support in attending the film and discussion. I don't like paying for a ticket, but it would be supporting 2a and Harvey/HRA in the bigger picture. I know I'd hate to be the one to lead a discussion on a controversial topic where everyone there is against you.
I'd also be willing to participate in Rocky's protest before the event though, just put out the info and I'll be there picketing with you or setup an information table.

Is that what you will be doing?

There were 30 something people there, not sure what the ratio was of pro/neutral/anti as everyone was pretty quiet, and I thought there would be more people attending. It was the first time I saw the film and I didn't really notice the controversial "silence" part. They went over a lot of the same talking points you see on the news...more guns=more deaths, suicides, less gun deaths in other countries, 2a is for the militia, terror watch list list, showing NRA members support background checks, etc. To most people the film would look like a professionally produced documentary that made good points for gun control and that gun rights supporters support gun control. However they don't tell the whole story on their facts and will lead people to the wrong conclusions. The film was like a high class Michael Moore film.
The film made me realize why a lot of gun people support background checks on private and gun show sales of firearms. I don't think they thought about how it would work. They would have to do the transaction through a FFL or dealer, or go through a police permitting process like Hawaii. Both requires time and money to do, and wouldn't have much effect on crime.
The discussion part at the end was a bit disappointing. Sen Esperro was there but Harvey was not present ( I assume for a good reason) and did the discussion through Skype. Worse is Harvey didn't see the film so he couldn't talk about it which was the main point of the discussion. Best part of the discussion was a pro 2a woman in the back talked about how she was allowed to open carry for her job and was a firearms instructor, but was not allowed to carry off duty and how she felt threatened walking around at night where previous rapes had occurred. She said that she wouldn't be able to defend herself (she was pretty skinny) against an attacker. I think this made a lot of people stop and think about it. I think we need more people like her to testify and represent the 2a community. Other than that there were a few thoughts discussed but nothing substantial.
I think the $10 I spent for the film was worth it even if some of it goes to the film producers. It's good to see how the other side portrays guns and what the public will see and feel. Then we are more knowledgeable and can counter these things more effectively.
