Title: My first shots at X-Ring's New Indoor Range
Post by: 841gun on August 03, 2016, 10:08:23 PM
Howzit guys,

Thought I'd share my expierence with everyone.  I needed to take some video for my new CCW review so I went to go checkout the new indoor range at X-Ring.

Range is now open from Tues to Saturday 10-6 I think there is a Happy hour deal 1/2 from 10-3 now

You must  dress to impress:

Dress Code

To ensure a SAFE and satisfactory experience, the following dress code will be enforced:
The following are NOT allowed

Flip-Flops, sandals or open footwear of any kind
Tank tops or low-cut tops
Clothing or jewelry displaying: drugs, obscenities, lewd or illegal behavior, sexual overtones. etc. or any reference that is disruptive or disrespectful to others
Undergarments worn as outer garments. This includes muscle shirts

Once in you check in on an Ipad mini.
If not a member yet you fill out app on  ipad. Membership is free.
They take a picture of your ID front and back from Ipad mini.
You sign it then the person helping you will sign as witness.

Then you will sign a waiver using the same Ipad.  This is done everytime you visit and shoot.

They will then search your bags checking for outside ammo.
They will also ask you to clear all guns by shooting into a small clear bin.  They took out my staple gun and staples.  I didnt ask why.
When done shooting you have to check with RO so he can verify that you firearms are empty then you can put them away.

I paid $18.95 for Blazer brass 124 a bit heavy for indoor range ammo.  I didnt ask if they had anything cheaper.  If they did. Shame on them. lol

Packed up went home.

Cheers yall

You can open a shoe rental business outside the range for all the kanaks.

Checked them out today; didn't get any happy hour deal this morning.  Maybe on certain days?  They were more busy than I have seen the last two times I went.  No wait list, but show room was pretty full.

Don't own any tactical slippas nor operator tank tops, also left my assault staple gun at home, didn't want any trouble.  Shhhhh! it has a 50 staple capacity....

Been there once and it's a nice range.  Still can't shoot from a holster or rapid fire.  When I compare it to Koko Head I see it as

+  I don't have to drive as far
+  Air Conditioned
+  Can shoot silhouettes

-  Very costly

That was pre-grand opening, assumed it was still the same as they don't want anyone to damage the ceiling or floor panels or retriever systems.  Would be great if can.

You can rapid fire, just need to raise your hand and the RSO will clear you to do so.

If you want the "advertised" specials, you need to let the cashier know.  If not they won't give it to you.

The holes look like a rectangle instead of a circle.  Probably the grain of the paper causes that.

Only during special classes and events. There's fixed benches in front of the firing line and those pose a hazard to anyone drawing from a holster.

Rapid Fire Allowed. Must tell the attending RO first!

Bump Fire Stocks aka Slide-Fires now allowed! Must get clearance from the Attending RO FIRST.  All shots must hit the target any go stray and you're not to stay!

Imo, to many rules meant for n00bs. It's a shame, was highly anticipated... make a couple lanes for experienced shooters. Have them take an assesment test given by ro's, and issue a card allowing them to use the specified lanes. In true xring fashion, Charge 50$ for the assesment. :D unfortunately, its most likely an insurance thing. nice facility though.

Checked it out with my cousin. Very nice facility! Shot a few pistols and a ar9 with a slide fire. Bump fired full mags controlled on target. RO and staff monitored me to make sure of safe operation and handling. As a certified rso and instructor. I totally respected that. There extra diligence made me feel comfortable about the safety of my surroundings ,and the safety of range operation . I think if you can demonstrate your proficiency you are allocated to do what is in your control.
