........next UH coach. Unreal, I didn't think he'd get the job, but it's looking good for the program if he can get some support.

I'm sorry but I'm just not a UH football fan. I love and support our volleyball and basketball teams and wish they would send more money that way instead of pouring it into a losing endeavor. It especially was upsetting when they kept referring to UH as last year's WAC champs. We were CO-WAC CHAMPS!!! It was a three way tie and should have been referred to as thusly. With the competition in the Mountain West divsion I just don't think they will be able to be solid contenders without a June Jones type of leader. And then you are starting to see an exodus of the stronger teams from the Mountain West that would help to draw money and national attention. If we want a winning football program I think Hawaii should just drop down to D2, at least there they've proven to be able to win. But then again that's just my very small and paltry 2 cents.

I wish they would drop down to FCS. They could join the Big Sky Conference and we'd get to see the Grizzlies every other year!

Get the offense away from the 1-demensional scheme (Run & Shoot) that's what I'd like to see.

Kala, as much as you dislike them, the football team is the one that generates the most revenue for the school.
On a lighter note, I can already see the Hawaii media thinking up some "it's chow time, for the warriors" slogans.

Actually not that true any more. Up until the June Jones era that was very true. Then when they upped the head coach salary for Jones and then Mac there was an imbalance. The state now had to contribute more towards the coaches salary and student fees were increased. The other problem with a losing program is the lack of air time on TV. No national coverage means less income and no bowl game means less money too. The saving grace for the WAC at the time was Boise and the money they brought in for the conference when they made their BCS bowl appearances. The Mountain West is a tougher more expensive conference. Hopefully UH and the state doesn't lose too much money. But then again you have to bet big to win big. So while I think UH will still be a losing program hopefully the share of the kitty from the Mountain West will offset that.
Anyways like you said KK on a lighter note Merry Christmas to all!!
