Commit a crime, acknowledge it and hide behind an attorney. So shame. How do you give your children stolen items?

As much as I disapprove of what they did, they turned themselves in in a smart manner. Criminals are getting smarter. Contact a lawyer first. Hand over all evidence to your lawyer. Have the lawyer contact the store before Hpd so hopefully they don't press charges and then inform the police and let them know what's going on. Smart. And I don't think the lawyer has to hand over the evidence just yet. I believe he can hold it in trust or something.
In regards to the "oh bah times is haad lildat" I don't think its a excuse. A lame one at that.
Imagine if Hawaii had more self defense shootings, the end result because times are hard.

The thing that kinda stinks is that we all know the only reason they were willing to retutrn the stuff is that the camera took some pretty good pictures which were shown on the news and printed in the newspaper. If the camera did not photograph them in the act of commiting a crime, you think they'd still be returning the stuff? If you follow that logic, maybe banks should invest in better cameras with higher resoltuion.

Times are tough for alot of local families,do they think they're the ONLY ones?! You don't see everyone else ripping off toys r us or wherever. Ive seen the security camera footage, they were cracking up having a great time until their faces got plastered all over the local news in high res. You think they would have came forward if there was no footage? NEGATIVE! No sympathy for these idiots, I say lock em up.

That my sound a little harsh but I'm a product of the getto I.e mayor wrights my mom an dad never graduated high school, I had the welfare christmas. My mom and dad never stole shít if we couldn't get it, we couldn't get it plane and simple. My mom and dad went on to get there GEDs later we was off welfare by the time I was in the second grade. To me they nothing but a bunch of lazy aśs scrubs. Sorry. :)

Couldn't agree with you more bra, there seems that there are some people that think welfare is a Lifestyle choice.
It is a choice when the President allows you 2+ years of unemployment or other type of Govt assistance with no end in sight. There is no incentive for these people to look for jobs.

Did a little checking into these bums.
Apparently this group of derelicts has a long history of theft from various stores around the island.
They've hit pearlridge, windward mall, ala moana, different walmarts and various other stores.
Do not for one second believe the BS story concocted about them trying to get presents for their poor children.

Interesting how society now is different from when I grew up as a kid. I was raised in Kalihi, and grew up with a belt or a hotwheels track slapped several times up my ass if I ever even thought of wandering down the wrong side of the tracks. My parents were strict, yet I learned to be happy with a roof over my head, clothes on my back and food on the table. As for toys, we made do with what we got - I remember making rubber band guns with a clothspin and a broom stick when I was a kid. Also remember going to the old Dairy Queen store by the Liliha Library with my Dad as a reward for pulling weeds in the yard all day long. Was great getting an aloha shirt or BBDs for Christmas - remember those days? I finished school, and also got a college degree. I work my ass off for my kids - and teach them right from wrong (without the belt or hotwheels track of course... I use the "mean eye" or raise my voice a little to get em back on track...).
It's sad when I read about folks making poor choices. It's even funnier when they get caught on camera!!!
