@BarackObama $4 M vacation in #hawaii = living like the 1 percent. Does this mean you'll be buying your own Presidency in 2012?

I would be pissed enough if he were only spending our 'tax $$', unfortunately his swinish rapacity comes at the expense of not only us, but our great-great-grandchildren. This mofo gots to go!

Anyone know where those figures are coming from?
I'm guessing the lion's share of that cash is being spent on security. Which happens no matter where Obama is.

::) Well, as long as we're guessing, I'd guess that if you were sincere in asking the question you'd have had the intellectual curiosity to click the link. BTAIM, even though a great deal is spent on security 'no matter where Obama is', the cost varies dramatically depending on where Obama is. I'll guess the taxpayers could have saved about $4 million if Obama had chosen to spend a month at Camp David instead of here.

I hope we band together and vote as many of these clowns out as possible. Every little bit helps!

Yeah, thanks. I did. $3.X million for the flight. Ok. Sure. That's specific. Now... back to the quetion: WHERE is this information coming from? Other than a site that is clearly upset with the amount of money being spent.
I can invent things to be upset about, too. Assuming this isn't an invented number what is the source?

Ah, here it is:

Based on government figures.
I was right. Air Force One expenses = security.
An expense incurred whenever any president travels anywhere. Same for the costs of housing his security. They're only griping about it now because its Hawaii. God forbid the President should want to spend the holidays where he grew up.

With the state this country is in, he should be in Washington 24/7/365, WORKING. Not prancing around the world like a goddang playboy! :grrr:

Frik, hawaii media has been gushing ever since air force one toucheddown in Honolulu.

You're welcome, and thank you for cherry picking my quote. I can totally understand why you choose not to respond to it in its entirety

Just because you are disposed towards deceitful outrage don't assume that is the norm for others.

See? I knew you were capable of figuring out how to click through the links.

Well, no actually. Air Force One expenses = transportation, albeit that Air Force One is certainly secure transportation.

Hmmmm. Putting aside your silly, biased, and unsupportable conjecture about the motives of those of us outraged over the presidents swinish self indulgence at our expense; I wonder how many holidays Obama spent in Hawaii when he was calling Chicago his home?

Tundah,
(sigh)
I question everything based on numbers that pops up. That's why I asked and looked again. The tiny little link under the figures slipped by first time I read the page. Sue me.
AF1 = transportation and required for almost all presidential travel for security reasons. I agree that it is a HUGE waste of money. I'm just surprised that suddenly, after decades of expensive travel on the part of presidents, Obama is suddenly "swinishly self indulgent." You think this is new or unique to this president?
A bad choice? Yes. Out of the ordinary for presidents in recent memory? Only slightly. I don't recall anyone working up such figures for when Bush Jr. was shuttling back and forth to Texas seemed like every other month during his first term. I do recall people griping about Bush taking more time off than any president in history but no one complained about the cost of his travel even though the economy was tanking by the standards of the time.
But.... ATTACK!!! Its how American politics works. My fault for being even slightly pro-Obama on a gun forum.

To this degree, yes.

Wow, a tu quo que fallacy, and a red herring! I'd say you had practice but I know that sort of thinking is as natural as breathing for you guys. Let it suffice for me to say that you are wrong on all counts. Whether it's from a bad memory, or a corrupted world view is not for me to say, but I will say that I won't defend Bush's profligacy any more than that of Obama's, but at least Bush had the tact to call his Crawford trips 'working vacations', this haughty bastard won't even do that! I guess you can get away with that sort of thing with a lickspittle media groveling at your heels.
But.... ATTACK!!! Its how American politics works. My fault for being even slightly pro-Obama on a gun forum.
No, your fault for being even slightly pro-Obama. ;)

Somewhere I read his first trip to Hawaii as POTUS cost us $1m and it has gone up from there
-
"... as natural as breathing for you guys?"
Oh, I get it. You're painting me with the crazy liberal brush. No, I'm not an Obama boot licking diehard - just tired of a county that would rather spend all its energy fighting itself than accomplishing much else. We've been working hard on that skill since Vietnam and have become quite good at it. I felt the same way during the Bush Administration. The book that most politicians are sworn into office on says "the house divided against itself shall not stand" but divisiveness works great for getting votes so they ignore that part. They're getting pretty good at ignoring important documents of all sorts, actually.
So when I see outrage directed at one politician or another I assume its about votes rather than anything else of substance.

I believe when Bush was in office and traveled to his ranch in Texas the cost to the taxpayer was just as high. HIs expense for security in my opinion is what it is since he is the figurehead for the country and has security at the white house, Camp David, Ranch House in Texas, California, you name it. The only difference is that it is transpacific transportation which brings me to a point of contention that his wife and children flew separately from him jacking the price tag to tax payers up even more.
