Title: .223 Brass
Post by: Eric808 on October 22, 2016, 02:09:54 AM
I want to start reloading and a friend said he would help me.  Does anyone have .223 brass for sale or where I can buy some?  I wanted to stay away from military brass, since I did not want to worry about removing the primer crimp.  But I was told that LC brass is best.

Also does anyone know or have experience with a good military brass primer crimp removal tool?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

I got an ammo can full of pre processed military 5.56 brass from Kaleo Arms.  They had a Christmas special last year.  It's been great stuff.  Not bench rest quality, but for my purposes, they've been just fine.

i could sell you mixed.223/5.56 brass for cheap
but my recommendation for a beginning reloader would be to buy from kaleo
you will get consistent, nice clean brass, and it will be decrimped
you can even specify all LC if you want

=============
I got a pile of brass sitting in my garage.
It looks like military style headstamps but I'm not sure if they are crimped very much.
I'll go take a closer look and let you know.
If it's good, then I'll trade a couple manapuas for them. LOL
I use a case deburring tool to open up the pocket.

Thank you everyone for your suggestion.  I will be ordering from Kaleo Arms the processed brass, that way I don't have to worry about the crimp.

OF, let  me know if you have any extra and will to part with brass, I am always looking for a good deal.  :shaka:

I will be looking into the Dilon, but will get the Hornady reamer as an option.

I bought some 308 brass from Kaleo Arms, and it was all good stuff.  As far as the primer crimp goes, I started trying to ream the pockets and then just broke down and bought the Dillon Super Swage 600 .....great investment and once adjusted it's a dream to use! Highly recommended.

Sorry to reply to an old thread. I recently obtained about 700 crimped rounds from two guys next to me at KH. I told them to dump the brass into my cart. Half were dented from an overzealous buffer but the other half clean up nicely. I put the Lyman decrimper bit into my drill and drill away. Works great. I'm also waiting for my RCBS decrimp tool which I've been told fits into a 3/8" drill.
