ORIGINAL POST:
This article complains that HPD is not showing violent crimes on their crime statistics map, only property crimes. Also the crimes listed are vary vague and there are no details on the crimes. This is an interesting read. I think if violent crimes are shown with more details on the criminal act, there would be more community awareness for self-defense and more support for CCW.

There's also this Nextdoor social medial thing where the neighborhood posts messages such as suspicious people, burglaries, and other stuff. Might be useful for us.

I have subscribed to HPD crime mapping for several years and wondered how come sexual assaults, couple murders, and beatings I read about in the paper did not appear on the crime mapping reports that I got. I now know why. All part of HPD's attempt to make our community feel safe by lying. Yes, half truths and not telling the whole truth is equivalent to lying.

Saw that this morning, typical government pulling the blinders over everyone.
Just like how hpd were deleting opposing comments on their facebook page to make it look lovely (Good job HDF).
Thanks for the nextdoor tip, just joined. Wish there were more people in my neighborhood but so far I like the feel of it, people helping get the word out on some items I had no idea were happening or I thought I was the only one tired of the moped noises and dangerous speeding through back streets.

Every little bit helps. What the public hears is that Hawaii has one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the nation and the police will protect them so there is no need to have CCW. This statistic is probably is true, however this statistic doesn't help you when you get attacked and the police aren't there. If people were made aware of violent crimes occurring in their neighborhood and that it was their own responsibility to protect themselves, then they may start considering CCW.

Maybe TPTB city and state don't want to show violent crime so tourists can believe this is a safe tropical paradise with docile and complying people. They want the tourist dollah, no care about da peepos (well only during election time).

Just following along the Stolen Stuff Hawaii page I've noticed a disturbing trend of teenagers mobbing individuals on the street and in cars. There have been some really freaky stories and lots of graphic photos of people who got beat up even when they attempted to comply. The political inaction on affordable housing and living wage employment opportunities means it will only get worse. As Gerald Celente says “When People Lose Everything, They Have Nothing Left To Lose, And They Lose It”
