Title: Laws regarding Target Shooting on State Land
Post by: ags on November 14, 2016, 01:52:37 PM
Hey All,

Does anyone have the link to the HRS or DLNR that specifically states you can or cannot target shoot on State land?
This was all I could find:  HRS clearly states that "A hunting license shall not be required for persons engaged in target shooting." HRS0143-5 (a)

HRS
http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0005.htm

It seems DLNR is specific only to Hunting.

I was told by one person that its okay if your in a Hunting Area.  Your not hunting and hunting rules don't apply to target shooting.

I was told by another that you need to have; Hunters Safety, Hunting Tag, Only one weapon, and that weapon has to be suited to the tag.

Any help is appreciated regarding this topic.  Links or specific laws/codes would be useful.

Thanks

500 ft from any road or highway.

and you are technically in an active hunt. Shooting  is prohibited on State land except for active hunting.

From Hunter ed class...... I can't find the HRS offf my head.
