Waiting for the suspect's family to speak about how he was a family man trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents and why an ordinary citizen has a gun.

In a statement, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said,

“During this brutal confrontation, Dean [Bardes] sustained physical injuries which he will recover from. I appreciate Dean’s courage, and I pray for his full recovery.

“I want to thank the many motorists who offered themselves as eyewitnesses. My deepest and sincere appreciation goes to the citizen who engaged the crazed assailant and stopped the imminent threat of great bodily harm or death to our deputy.”

Pretty dang sure this story doesn't make the Star Ad, known for it's always "objective" stories and editorials.
Probably Maj. Robinson would have wanted the CCW guy to be armed with a big dog instead.   Might have chewed both perp and LEO.
