Parrot attack (these guys were circling my drone for about 2 minutes, when i switched the camera on they all dug out.

I also got a visit from a zoo worker, apparently they have had issues with drones flying low over the zoo and wanted me to not do that (i flew over the zoo at a high of about 200ft.) I dont think its going to be a problem but who knows what will happen.

When you say stuff like that it's usually followed with "because ......."

I've lost signal a few times when flying near residential areas (not above)  - probably due to interference from wifi etc. I know DJI Lightbridge is on the 2.4 ghz band. Their link is likely more robust but there is a possibility of signal loss. The video feed from lLightbridge has a slight latency - keep that in mind when flying FPV.
The AMA guidelines also state that you shouldn't fly over populated areas.

There is also this NOTAM: http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_6_7969.html effective from 17 Dec to 3 Jan 2017

I'm not trying to be a Nazi or anything of that sort. DJIs Phantom 4 is an awesome piece of RC gear, I thought about getting it. As a hobbyist, what DJI did with their Mavic is something I've been trying to replicate for a while. Small, portable remote with video and long transmission distance.

Starting off in 1992 as an RC plane flyer then progressing to helis, it is a great hobby that exploded when DJI introduced their Phantom series. What DJI did was introduce RC model flying to the casual often curious user. Before hobbyists were likely skilled at mechanical skills such as soldering and a little bit of software. They were also skilled at troubleshooting and know first hand at what components fail. DJI eliminated that process of learning and knowing.
I bought their first kit and they still have their Flamewheel series. I had a motor fail on a quad and it dropped like a rock. It was a bad solder joint from DJI. The pad fell off the ESC's PCB. Lucky there was no one around. I was in a park.
I still see some videos of the infamous DJI flywaways where users are ironically caught chasing their "drone" because they didn't set a home position or set their home position on a boat in the water

I fly my drone quite a bit when surveying properties.  All animals I have seen hate the drone,  dogs, cows, horses, goats, deer, pigs, birds etc... Dogs and certain birds will take down the drone if they can.  Other animals like cows and horses will run.  It can be dangerous to the animal or people.  I would imagine the zoo doesn't want the animals startled.  People and / or animals could get hurt.  I would agree with the height request.

I actually lost signal today at a range of about 1/2 a mile, the auto pilot kicked it, pushed it up to 120ft and it flew back to my start location. Where it reconnected.

The delay in the video feed it minor from what I can see but yes you would have to be car full, I'm loving the safety features tho, it will/does detect obstructions and objects and slams on the breaks.

There was no height request from them it was an offer and notification from me, they won't see me. Slow 200ft in that area.

The guy told me they have 2 drones In Their office from people that have crashed in the zoo but have no come back to collect them.

This is a huge grey area right not, you only have the right to your useable airspace other then that airspace above property is open to navigation.

Could you imagine the legal issues of flying planes if you could claim all the space above private property as the owners ?

there's a video with wild tigers in the snow that are chasing the drone that is really quite cool, but yeah, it is could be harmful to them

Yea certain animals startle easily, mostly preyed upon animals.  Our cattle will run even if I were at 200ft.  The drone (Phantom 4) Is still loud enough at that height.  I had thought about using the drone to drive the cattle between pastures but it is too much for them.  Maybe if they got inoculated more.

I used to take the drone between Oahu and Big Island but Oahu was just too much of a pain dealing with it on Oahu so it pretty much stays on the Big Island.

The Mavic is neat but if video is primary importance the Phantom 4's is better.  The 4 Pro will have a really great camera plus more sensors.  Might have to upgrade.

Are you flying with carbon fiber blades? They are a bit quieter.

Stock blades for now. I'm sure it will get all kinds of upgrades over time, espicLly as I can't buy guns for a while it's not real loud but you can defiantly hear it up to about 100ft away.

Tempted to get a Phantom 4 or a 3 just for Lightbridge. But damn DJI charges a lot for what is a 4S battery. I understand they embedded proprietary circuits in them so that Phantoms only arm with DJI batteries. I buy 4s batts with similar capacity for 1/3 of what DJI charges.

Anyways, debating with neighbors about "drones". One claimed that they were invading her privacy and watching her do chores. I said we live in Waipahu and who wants to watch you do chores? Is your last name Kardashian? Why would anyone waste their time with you Mrs. Glenn Miyashiro?

Yeah the battery's are retarded, there is a bunch of fake ones floating around as well.

People have no expectation of privacy in any area that can be seen from a public area, privacy rights are to stop spying not casual observance.

Hey London,

I am working on the KHSC.INFO website and I would love to put a short aerial video of the shooting complex on the website. Any chance you could do that some day? All volunteer of course but I can give you credit on the website for it.

Might be best to take the video on Monday or Tuesday while it is closed. Might be too dangerous for drones any other day!!!

I thought I remembered seeing one but for some reason I thought it would have been posted in this thread.

Ren? I tried searching and I cannot find it. Can you point me in the right direction? Can I use it on the website?

Thanks!

I deleted it. Besides the video cam I have can't compete with DJI's current offerings. It looks horrible compared to London's Phantom

Don't really need it. But if you happen to get the urge to do this......

It will just add something new and different to the website.
