Title: NRA now competing with USCCA Insurance -- Disinvites them from NRA Exhibits
Post by: Flapp_Jackson on April 25, 2017, 10:42:14 AM
The USCCA, which offers CCW insurance, posted a response to the NRA's 2-week notice that the USCCA booth space at the NRA Annual Meeting has been canceled.

In their response, USCCA said they were not provided a reason for the cancellation, nor why it was done on such short notice after people had made plans to attend and customers/associate businesses had made arrangements to meet them there.

At the same time, the NRA has begun offering "Carry Guard", a CCW insurance plan that provides up to $1M in liability insurance, and up to $150K in legal defense cost reimbursement in the event you are arrested, charged, and/or tried for using a firearm in self defense.

Coincidence?  Many think not.

I wonder if any provide legal defense if you carried in Hawaii and got arrested.

I'm a member of both. That's kind of a d*ck move by the NRA. They should allow USCCA on there so that members have options.

Nobody will do that.  It's ILLEGAL for any insurance company to pay a claim from anyone who committed a crime.

That's one reason the criminal defense benefits are reimbursed after you are acquitted or found not guilty.  They do offer up to 20% of the max criminal defense coverage as "supplemental payments" to use for bail, lawyer retainer, etc.

If you are found guilty, you're stuck.

Civil defense costs can be paid as you go through the process.

I've been eyeing CCW Safe. They have a plan for those non-free states were getting a CCW is unrealistic.  It's strictly a Home Defense plan however, but it covers multiple household family members.  :shaka:

The NRA plan covers you, and your spouse for free, *IF* you both can CCW, and any family member at home that uses a gun for home defense.

Yes, the NRA adds a spousal endorsement for free.  I confirmed with them that the firearm does not have to be registered to your spouse.  But will cover for any firearm in their possession.  But you also have to be a current NRA member even though the policy is still active.  So if you forget to renew, you're up shit creek.

For USCCA, each person needs their own insurance. But they also do monthly installments, where as NRA is lump sum payment for premium.

The policy from NRA comes with a free 1-year membership.  After that, you should either upgrade to life when they offer a deal, or remember to renew when you renew the policy.

No, NRA offers both annual and monthly payments.

Gold ($359.95 annually or $31.95 monthly)
Silver ($254.95 annually or $21.95 monthly)
Bronze ($154.95 annually or $13.95 monthly)

When I purchased mine it was in Oct 2016.  NRA went through Lockton Affinity.  They didn't offer free 1 year membership, I had to pay at time of purchasing of the policy (check out page).  Nor the installment option and special card to carry.  And they lowered their premiums.

Seems like they upped their game to compete with USCCA. I actually was going to USCCA once my current policy expired, but now have to think about it.

Yeah, this new insurance looks like a whole new thing for NRA.  They are using Chubb as the insurer, which they say is the largest publicly traded insurer in the world for property and casualty insurance.

NRA Carry Guard: Insurance

NRA Spokesperson Dana Loesch talks about NRA Carry Guard—the only membership program for self-defense coverage
and training developed and supported by the National Rifle Association. NRA Executive Director of General Operations
Josh Powell joins Dana to explain how the program came about at the behest of their membership. And Steve Eginoire
of Lockton Affinity and Second Amendment Attorney Chuck Michel outline the benefits.
