So I am shooting on the rifle range and I have my slightly moded PRT 91 GI and Arsenal SAM7R-61 on the bench $2000+ of rifles easy. There are two guys a few benches down sighting scoped bolt action hunting type rifles, seemed like that they could have been a couple... I keep shooting and I have my amplified ear muffs on and I go to get a rifle out of a soft case, I bring it up to the table and I open the case then pull out the rifle in a gun sock. The whole time I was bringing out the third rifle I had these two boys attention as I am removing the rifle from the gun sock I hear "oh Mosin so cheap" from one of the lads to my left. I looked and smiled and went about my shooting it's doubtful they could have handled the recoil from the Mosin-Nagant.

I bought my first Mosin in 2013. I was driving from Reno to Vegas and stopped in Tonopah. While in Reno, I won $200 at the slots. They were having a gun show at the hotel and bought a beat up T53 for $150. The vendor said he didn't want to give me a receipt because then he'd have to file the paperwork. I shrugged my shoulders and walked out to my car to put the rifle in my trunk then headed off to Vegas. I cleaned and refinished it. I eventually sold it to someone about two years ago for $200. My son has never forgiven me for it. I lost contact with the buyer but keep an eye out for it at the range. Someone had cut the name "Nuri" in the stock. The photo was with the last of the surplus ammo I brought over from the mainland.

One guy tried to sell me a used knife for more than it was worth and claimed it was no longer in production when it still was.
Not real funny I know but the best I got.
I did see someone with a black guns matter shirt and have been trying to find that same design for sale.

I bought my one and only Mosin in 2011. I was driving from Kapolei to Honolulu. While in Honolulu I stopped at the Blaisdell Center where they were having a gun show. I walked up to Brian at the X-Ring booth and he sold me a 91/30 built in 1944 for $175 + no tax. When I got home and pulled it out of the box I noticed the machining on the receiver is rough. Really rough. And the barrel was frosty. I cleaned all the cosmoline off and out of it. The stock has that reddish varnish and a bunch of streaks that make it look awful. It looked bad but shot okay. After developing a good load for it I decided to waste another $300 and I bought Mojo sights and a Timney trigger for it. I have shot it so much that the bore is no longer frosty and it can hit the 12" gong at 100 yards with great consistency. And since the Mojo sights are ghost rings I have no problems seeing them.
Even tho it is butt ugly and is not the most accurate rifle I own, it is one of my favs and accompanies me to the range more often than the other guns do. I am glad I have a decent and economical load for it because I shoot it so much.

Forgot to tell the rest of the story. Approximately 90 days after I bought the Mosin I get a call from HPD informing me I have not registered the gun. Ooooooooops!!!
I completely forgot. They were nice about it, tho. I went down there the next day and registered it. I was feeling embarrassed by my forgetfulness. Now I justify it by being old.

so gathering from the posts...Mosin rifles are cheap. I don't think they meant it as an insult.
