Maybe we should try a different approach to change the laws about CCW in Hawaii. I visit the Stolen Stuff Hawaii (SSH) facebook and it seems that in the comments about people getting robbed, 90% support and call for CCW. And about 10% who do not support the 2a and want more restrictions.
A lot of the people who are apposed to CCW, have the same mentality as our law makers who are anti 2a. They don't think Hawaii needs it and our crime isn't that bad compared to the mainland. They're afraid of Hawaii being the wild west. They don't understand use of force laws.
So since SSH is recognized by the state (they get awards often), maybe we can work with Michael Kitchens (founder of SSH) to show our law makers that there is a "need" and people do "want" CCW. Just have them read the comments sections. But granted a lot of people on the site do not also know what the law specifically states about places to keep guns, other tools for self defense (ask about tasers, wasp spray, etc...), and use of forces, but still support CCW.
He seems pro 2a so I'm sure he will be aboard if it doesn't conflict with the SSH FB page.
But more "senior" firearms owners would be needed to lead this endeavor if we do it, because I am a noob still to the culture.

I don't ever see Hawaii passing a law that will allow you to use lethal force to protect property (I.e your flat screen).

That's an interesting stat and plan. What we need is to educate large numbers of voters that CCW can work and SSH would be an easy way to do this. They're people affected by or worried about crime, and want to do something about it. Not sure how to go about it.
One way is to offer NRA Refuse to be a Victim classes to people on SSH, then talk about CCW.

Me neither, that's why I'm asking. They are pretty strict on not promoting things and political views, etc... But a defense class or defensive law class may be a neutral topic. I know I've posted stuff on there on what the law states or doesn't state and have never had any comments removed. But by the wording, you can tell I'm pushing for CCW or changing our laws.

If someone wants to lead a team to do the Refuse to Be a Victim classes, I can teach the instructors. Get a classroom, form a team of 5 instructors, 2 instructors teach each class and have 2 classes a month. Get it sponsored by the HRA and get NRA grants to cover the materials. Give the class free to people on SSH, the public, and politicians.

Good ideal changemyoil, you should ask mike kitchens. He did a lot of work trying to get a racetrack back on Oahu, so he probably has some good ideas on how to go about this.

There was too much drama involved in that. He still should have some type of direction. Not asking kitchens to take control of it though. Just for some type of advice.
