Title: Nibiru
Post by: Old Guy on February 14, 2012, 09:15:03 AM
Nibiru  the reason for 2012?     http://www.csicop.org/si/show/myth_of_nibiru_and_the_end_of_the_world_in_2012/ (http://www.csicop.org/si/show/myth_of_nibiru_and_the_end_of_the_world_in_2012/)

Something I keep running across.....

Decrypted from a confidential e-mail in response to my inquiry to a trusted colleague:

Quote
Uribin is the planetoid to watch out for, not Nibiru.  It is unmistakably due for a collision with Earth in mid-June (15 June, + or - 10 hours) 2013.  The cumulative errors occuring when the Mayans calculated their "long calendar" has resulted in that famous date of December 2012.

Very precise orbital data and hi-res photos of it were taken by a secret NASA-x probe named "Pointer" specifically missioned  to locate Nibiru, but found instead, the far more dangerous Uribin just inside Saturn's Solar orbit.  It had been "slingshotted" by Saturn's gravitational pull such that its new orbit would clearly intersect Earth's on the plane of the ecliptic in June 2013.  Uribin is an extrasolar object re-discovered only recently, though apparently known to the Mayans from a previous pass through the solar system.

The name "Uribin" is an obvious reversal of the name "Nibiru" and is used internally by NASA-x to distinguish this very real threat from the rather fanciful internet discussions on Nibiru.

It is expected to strike at "only" 13,600 km/hr, since it will be approaching from the dawn side of the earth.

This is the real reason for the termination of the space shuttle program as it then became an unecessary effort/expense.  The government and NASA-x is keeping it secret so that people can at least have a little more time for normal living, on the "eat, drink and be merry" type of theory --but more probably because nobody knew what else to do about it.

Another secret probe was launched a year after "Pointer" to confirm the accuracy of "Pointer's" observations.  The resulting new data confirmed the prediction of date of impact with Earth, and refined the collision date to within the plus or minus ten hour error band.  I was not told the code name for that second probe.

There was some discussion, just before I retired, on the possibility of destroying Uribin with the most powerful thermonuclear device available, but from confidential contacts with my colleagues after my retirement, apparently the idea was not feasible. This, because despite the enormous energy of the TN devices available in terms of human perceptions, calculations showed that such a detonation would hardly disturb the trajectory of Uribin at all given that its observed mass is about 11% that of the earth, far too large for a TN device to affect it, even with a direct hit.

I didn't ask, but apparently NASA-x is a sub-rosa organization dealing with secret National Aeronautics and Space Agency matters.

(I'm not signing this one so nobody will know who posted it.)

Guys, stop obsessing over the Mayan calendar.  As I explain in my book, Tom Explains it All, this was a simple case of tenure run amok.  There was an office of calendars, a lifetime appointment, in the Mayan central leadership.  Itchiklul (translated hereafter as "Bob) was the last appointee to that station before the Mayans' unfortunate encounter with nosy Europeans.  Bob lived to an unprecedented 103 years old (by our calendar), and until his dying day, he kept the entire staff of 13 (a lucky Prime number in Mayan culture) working 16 hour days generating new calendars.  The monarchs during his tenure each had a fondness for the old fart and were content to allow him his obsession, realizing that once he eventually did die, there would be no reason to replace him for generations to come.  The resources he and his staff consumed would then be diverted to an improved health care package for the priests and royalty.
