My guns are registered with HPD, but I'm moving to Big Island. I have to register with Hawaii PD when within 5 days of arrival correct?

There's nothing in the law to make you re-register guns in the state. My own "not a lawyer" opinion is:
Registration of firearms is a state requirement. The County police departments are responsible for administering the registration process for residents of their particular counties.
Once a firearm is registered in the state, it remains registered after you move to another county. Since you aren't transferring from out of state, nothing further is required.
To be sure, call HPD and ask, but I think you'll be okay,

It is confusing because (AFAIK) there are four Chief of Police in the State, each maintains their own website and police stations, and each is responsible for issuing CCW permits (not). I guess it's assumed that if you register in one county, it applies to all counties.

Your firearms are registered with the State of Hawaii, not HPD or any county level entity. County police departments are just a processing point. You do not have to re-register.

Thanks everyone for the input. In my mind I originally thought that being registered with HPD was enough, but when I read Hawaii county's page it says "Once you receive a permit to acquire a firearm, you must register all firearms with the Hawaiʻi Police Department within five days of purchase or acquisition" which specifically says "Hawaii PD". It then goes on to say "If you move to Hawaiʻi and bring in a firearm of any description, you must register the firearm within five days after the firearm enters the state". So by Hawai'i, does it mean the state or the island, even though the sentence ends with state. Just to be sure, I will email Hawaii PD and post the transcript here.

You already own the firearms you registered with HPD. You don't need another permit to acquire. So, there is no requirement to register, as you are not "acquiring" firearms.
It then goes on to say "If you move to Hawaiʻi and bring in a firearm of any description, you must register the firearm within five days after the firearm enters the state".
So by Hawai'i, does it mean the state or the island, even though the sentence ends with state. Just to be sure, I will email Hawaii PD and post the transcript here.
In that context, it means the state of Hawaii. Notice the last phrase: "within five days after the firearm enters the state."

Thanks Flapp! I guess I got mixed up with acquire and the state. When I went to mississippi for training, I specifically bought an AR since I knew I wouldn't have to get another permit to acquire (even though I already got fingerprints registered a P220 and a ruger 10/22 with HPD a few years ago). As it stands I haven't paid $40 and been put into rapback. Maybe I'll stop my gun collection and never have to be input.

The only thing that is administered locally at the county level are the (nonexistent) CCW permits. For example, if you got a CCW permit from Honolulu PD it would only be valid on Oahu. Same goes for Kauai, Maui/Molokai, and the Big Island.
