Nice Boar with my young nephew. Getting ready to pack up watching a sow with babies as the sun was setting then finally at around 7:15 just before dark this Tusker came walking out. Bang! Shoulder shot and he dropped like a ton of bricks.

.308 win @ about 60 yards. Used Federal's Trophy Bonded Tip ammo. 165 grains. Bullet entered one shoulder (can be seen in photo) and went thru lodging under the armor plate at the opposite side.

Can't ask for a better result. That bullet looks like it performed exactly as designed.

Yup... Switched to Federal Trophy Bonded Tips from this Hornady American Whitetail 150 gr. Interlock. This was taken from a boar under a similiar situation & conditions. Big Difference in performance. I will not sacifice Performance over cost.

It would be interesting to find out the weight loss (if any) for the Federal Trophy Bonded. It looks like weight loss is minimal which of course is optimum. Can't ask for much better than that.

Is the Federal Trophy Bonded Tip bullet basically a Trophy Bonded Bear Claw with a plastic type tip seated on top?

Yes basically with some other exterior changes to enhance accuracy.

Thanks 308gunner! Those bullets are great for deep penetration; all the while expanding to almost twice their diameter. Used a Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet to take down a Black Bear several years ago in Idaho. The bullet went through the bear's shoulder muscles and broke it's off shoulder ball joint and blade. Exit hole was around the size of a silver dollar. Both are awesome bullets!

Still learning. Trying different ammo for accuracy (tight groups) with devastating end results.

This is the entry wound little larger than a quarter. Biggest entry wound I've seen yet.

Awesome Performance!
