Title: The topic of Hawaii's Constitution came up on Reddit

I thought that this was an interesting discussion. The Second Amendment originally wasn't incorporated into state constitutions because the gentle-class was worried that commoners being equal to their trained fighting men would spell the end of their hereditary aristocracy. But Hawaii's constitution actually does include firearm rights.

Haha. I laughed out loud to see my comment to Joe Huffman's blog be the basis of that discussion. Pretty damn funny. Whenever I see Hawaii either 1. get mentioned as a repressive state, or 2. left out of a list of repressive states I'll usually write at least a brief comment trying to inform people of the basic facts (especially re CCW/open carry) because 1. the more people know what's going on here the better, just in general, and 2. I always hope that at least a couple of people will write some government agency in Hawaii indicating that they have chosen not to visit Hawaii because of their restrictive laws (I know I've seen people say they wouldn't vacation here for that reason, but not anyone say they'd written the bureaucrats to let them know that fact).
