I still want one.
-
meh
-
only non semi auto allowed in Hawaii
-
I want one or three, too.
-
semi auto OK with a NON detachable magazine.
-
No personal interest, so they were never "a thing" from my perspective. However, to each, their own and if you want 10 of em, go for it.
-
The biggest draw to me has been once you register it as a pistol, you can legally convert it back to a rifle by swapping uppers. Kind of makes the case for a non-semi-auto version versus epoxying the mag in place.
If the AR-15 ever gets banned, there's a chance an AR pistol wouldn't be included since it's not an assault pistol. Of course, any ban can change the descriptions to ban anything they wish. :wtf:

Anyone here good with welding a mag in the lower?

Like machining an 80% lower, you have to do it yourself.

I was just about the say: ask dogman.
I didn't get to take a look at your pistol. Did you make a sleeve for the mag and lower?
-
Don't you have to order it from the FFL as a pistol, so it says pistol on the 443 form?
Or you can buy a lower with your long gun permit and then weld and register it as a pistol.

Whatever is checked on the 4473 is how it gets registered. So, make sure the lower is properly annotated on the 4473 when you buy it. And DON'T use your long gun permit. You need to go through the whole pistol permit process.
-
That's what I was thinking/ trying to say.
I wonder if all shops would be open to doing it

Last time I talked to HPD about two years ago the magazine body must be fully welded to the lower receiver.

Yep, you have treat the lower receiver like you were purchasing a handgun, three visits to HPD.

Just found out it's now legal to shoulder an AR pistol with arm brace. Since it's a pistol, do you think I'll be able to shoot it on the silhouette side? I wonder if I can make a 9mm and weld a mag in

Best to ask the guys running that side of the range.

There range rules say any pistol caliber pistol is allowed plus .22 rifles.
Whether you shoulder it like a rifle or use the brace as designed, .223/5.56 is a rifle caliber. That would bust the rules even though it's a pistol by definition.
Your question of making it 9mm would be the only way I think they would allow it. And then, if you shouldered it, they might change their minds saying you're using it as a rifle, not a pistol. You'd be breaking the "only .22 caliber rifles" rule.
No matter what, it'll be a tough sell to shoulder the pistol at that range. Ultimately, it's up to the range supervisor.

Ive seen silhouette pistols in 308 win. Its a club ran range so they can adopt their own rules.
Interesting that they can still shoot beyond 100 yards.

I went there one time with a 5.56 AR pistol and was told not to shoot full metal jacket ammo but hollow points would be okay. I didn't have any hollow point ammo so I didn't shoot.

Build a straight pull AR pistol with a side charging handle (devil dog concepts) or purpose built upper with milled slot for side charging for ease of cycling without a hard break of your shooting position. And it's legally a single shot pistol.
Build just like a normal AR but flip your gas block around to cover the port and no gas tube. Then you don't have readily convertible upper under the letter of the law. Then if you ever decide to make it a rifle or head to the other 49 you flip the block around, install the gas tube and away you go.

Was never really interested in AR pistols. I've shot a few. I recall dogman's AR pistol was pretty sweet. Even more interesting was the stories he had in his journeys getting there.
They are certainly cool. I just was always was more interested in SBRs than pistols.

I would buy one if we could open/conceal carry and could have a true AR pistol.
