In this case, he was in the US legally as a result of chain migration, something that allows family members to get preferential admission to the US over others simply because they have family members here providing a place to stay and a job -- supposedly.

Yes! I think specificity is important.
I prefer not to bring Trump into this as well, just a serious conversation about what, if anything, was missed and how we could reduce the likelihood of it happening again.
