Interesting.... Just think how badly this could have gone for him and his wife, had he not had access to a firearm.
Three unidentified men, believed to have been armed, broke into Childress’ North Carolina home Sunday around 10:30 p.m. ET, but fled after Childress fired shots at them, WCNC-TV reported.
According to the WXII report, Childress — who was elected First Vice President of the National Rifle Association in May — reportedly told deputies the only reason he and his wife “were here today was because of God and the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms).”

I really hate to bring up a particular case or two we've had here in Hawaii that might have made a huge difference if they were not only armed but had concealed carry as well. The fact that the victim was visiting a rental property would not have impaired access to a firearm if Hawaii allowed CCW.
