How many times have we heard "These things only happen in the United States..." and similar claims? They are completely false of course (see the link below to Crime Research Center article ranking U.S. far below many European countries in RATE of public mass murders). Here is an article today (be sure to note what caused the end of the attack):

Gunman opens fire on church festival crowd with at least five dead
A GUNMAN has slaughtered at least five people after opening fire on a church festival crowd in southern Russia.
He went on the rampage armed with a hunting rifle in the city of Kizlyar in the Republic of Dagestan.
The shooter targeted a group of people celebrating a religious folk festival and injured four others.
Security guards killed the attacker – said to be a local resident born in 1995 – but two of them were wounded in the process.
The four fatalities are reportedly female civilians who were leaving an Orthodox Sunday service.

On another but related issue, bloggers were killed because of their views in Bangladesh. Killed by Muslim extremists.
Why didn't we hear about this in our news?
Because of hubris. But events like this happen.

Russia interferes in every election. You didn't care until you were told to care.
Statues stood for over 100 years. You didn't care until you were told to care.
People are killed daily by guns in cities like Chicago. You don't care about gun violence, until you're told to care.
