Im so dumb. This is the 2nd time I did this. I saw choke ammo cans and I said I'll get em b4 I leave. Well b4 I left....goners.
-
Grabbed a couple of the fat fifty cans. A .22 upper. A bunch of .22 and 9 ammo. Bunch of brass and primers. A red dot holographic sight. Thinking of going back tomorrow as well.
-
And signed up with the HDF!
Awesome! I dropped a donation in their box. I'm going to try and take some time off tomorrow Wednesday to show support for their case. Check out their flyer, attached.
:stopjack:
had my long gun permit and was temped by a couple of ARs, but ended up only getting some mini mag .22 ammo from OGC.

It might just be me but I thought it was a waste of time and disappointing. Nothing was Actually on sale. Not much accessories. The vendor turn out was poor and not much selection available. I might just be spoiled from attending the mainland gun shows. The only thing I bought was a model plane for my son.

Maybe we can organize a Henry day at the range!

Probably so. This is a very different beast.

Yup! I wanna shoot this thing

I walked in, saw some ammo that I could use that was wasn't any cheaper. In fact, it was a little more than retail at one of the LGS.
said wussup to KK
finished circle around
walked out.
I was looking for a pulled AKM complete front sight. Didn't find one of course.
If anyone has one laying around, could ya PM me. Thanks.

Glad I gave it the skip! Don't really see the point of these things anymore with so many classified sale sites.

Bought a T-shirt from Mojo Tactical and some rope. Didn't see anything good other than the Hot chick from X-Ring.

It bothers me when people talk about my girlfriend that way.

I had no room to take out the accessories! Sorry

I bought a nice old S&W Combat Magnum, 4" .357. Sold a few guns as well.

Damn it X-Ring and Mojo! I took my 14 y/o son all around the show to find something/anything he liked. We get to X-Ring the kid started to drift...something about a back tattoo w/ tight pants made him wonky. So we stopped to talk to Dean and put a 12ga in my boys hands to get back on track. That didn't last. Two minutes later, we get to Mojo and it was all over...a blonde girl with short shorts. My boy completely forgot why we were there. It wasn't until we got to the end that I realized I'd wasted the last 2-1/2 hours. I say to him "So, which shotgun did you like?" His reply was "Yeah!" Hmmm..."Remington? Mossberg? 12ga? 20ga?" All he could say was "Ooookay!" You guys turned my son into Lil' Jon. Glad his 12 y/o brother stayed home...I don't think I'd be able to deal with banter about booty cutters all the way home.
Took a quick 30 min backtrack through the area (avoidng Mojo and X-Ring) to drop a donation in the HDF box, pick-up a few boxes of ammo, an 80% lower, some PPK mags, a 442nd T-shirt, and the last 40mm ammo can.

I know what you're saying. I was the same after the last show (not like it used to be), but to me going to these things is about showing support. A good turn out can only help show there is a genuine interest within the community. Well that and it's one of the two times a year I get to chat with Mel Chung and the other old timers.

I work this weekend, but I'm really not sweating over missing the show this time around. I remember being so excited to go to the hawaii gun show for the past several years, then being massively dissappointed with the retail prices once I go there. Kinda like the flea market and seeing all the commercial tents there.
I know if I give it enough effort, I'm supposed to find some deal somewhere in that thar hussle and bustle.
Don't get me wrong though, if I was off, I would definitely show up, if nothing else but to help HDF out or maybe just browse. I just won't be calling in sick or requesting off just to attend anymore.
Scowling tables who think I don't want to buy anything makes me lol on the inside.
-
It looks like I missed all the good stuff. :( I had to teach this morning and didn't get there until just after 2:00. I ran into a lot of my friends I haven't seen in a long time and spent more time talking story and getting caught up. Didn't see much to buy. I bought my wife some jewelery from the lady next to the guy with the straight blade shaving razors, a shooting bag and vest from the Big Island guys, and a sling from STA Tactical. The ammo wasn't as cheap as I hoped it was going to be. We spent some time talking story with the LIFE guys and picked up my membership card from HDF. We will be going back tomorrow with my co-worker and his wife. Who knows maybe there will something I missed or maybe they'll mark some stuff down.

I surprised no one posted our anti zombie weapon pic!

I seem em. Neva take pic. What was that...2stroke or electric
-
Bought some 9mm ammo from YG. I was tempted to buy a 3" folder but ran out of time and didn't have time to bargain.

I was just about to ask if anyone knew about those scopes. I think I'm gonna pick one up tomorrow too. I wonder if they sold out of the 10x40, I think the biggest mag. they had was 6x24.

X-ring's pretty girl is the owners daughter.
Mojo's pretty girl is "Mr. Mojo's" girlfriend.

Coming originally from the mainland I used to love going to the gun shows because I would see new products and get good or great deals on stuff I needed or wanted. Half of my clothes used to be purchased at the gun shows. The thing about the shows on the mainland is that there were a tremendous number of vendors. I remember the biggest show I ever went to was 4 buildings the size of the Blaisdale and larger. Plus there were vendors outside the buildings. The thing was there were numerous vendors selling ammo. So with the competition you would always find some good deals. There were so many dealers selling the same Glocks and Sigs, etc. that all you had to say was so and so down the aisle is selling the same gun for $50 less and they would drop their price. Also, you could always count on the prices at the entrance to the show to be much higher than the guy who has a table in the back of building 4. So it was my habit to shop the front and buy in the back.
Fast forward to the last few years since I moved from the Big Island. I have gone to every show since I moved here. And every show has been a disappointment on some level. But for me this show has been the best I have attended so far. The issue I see is that we have a unique situation here. Here, each dealer sort of has their own specialty. So there is not a lot of direct competition. For instance, YG came with guns at their usual higher prices and gave a small show discount. But you could get a better deal on the same thing at another dealer. There were a lot of people looking at their guns. But I saw no one picking them up and holding them. But on the other side of the isle they were selling out of ammo when I went by around noon. I found they had some ammo at good prices and some at regular prices. While some was discounted to a price that was still too high even for Hawaii. By mainland standards these prices are not that great but by Hawaii standards I found these prices to be good: CCI Blazer .22 (Not bulk packed) $18.96/500, Federal Champion .22 (Not bulk packed) $18.96/500, Federal Primers (All Sizes) $29.99/1000. They had 9mm PMC Brass for $11.99/50. Not a great price but they sold out of it around noon. I can't remember what they had the Federal XM193 selling for per box (20) but people were buying that up pretty fast as well. Also, I remember they had a box of bulk packed .45 (Federal I think) that people were buying up. I don't remember the prices but I remember they were nothing to jump up and down about. Yet people were almost in a buying frenzy. Looking around at the other dealers no one else had brought the amount and type of ammo that YG did. I saw some ammo sales going on at Security Products I think it was. But it was not the feeding frenzy that I saw at YG. Security Products brought more of a mixed bag of products and had some decent prices on things. But I didn't need much of what they were selling. Except I bought some plastic ammo boxes from them for $2.96/box. These were the MTM boxes with hinges. That is a good price for the box with hinges. So I bought a bunch. They were also selling targets and other things I didn't see at the other dealers. Again, they had mostly items I did not see any where else in the show. I believe that if someone like Security Products had brought the amount and type of ammo that YG did you would have seen better prices. It is almost as if the dealers know what the other dealers are going to bring so they don't bring the same thing in order to not step on the toes of the others. I am not saying that this is what is happening but it is rather odd that you don't see a lot of duplication (meaning competition) at the shows. WGS brought a bunch of oddball items. Ammo was old stock of odd calibers. He brought some reloading supplies but nothing I needed.
Overall I didn't see anything at a spectacular price, but as you can see I found some things at prices better than I could normally find them. When you combine this with the small and limited number of customers (Meaning limited dollars to spend) around the island there is not much reason to give great deals on things. So I think this is why we are not seeing spectacular prices and great deals happening at the shows. With that said, I saw more people at this show than at any of the shows I have been to previously. I also saw a few new vendors such as X-Ring and STA Tactical. I believe they are trying to fill a niche. Let's hope they stay with us because we are already seeing great prices from X-Ring on certain items and OGC is actively and aggressively vying for our dollars with bulk buys and daily specials. The more customers there are and the more dealers there are the better this makes things for us. Unfortunately, we are entering another period where we will see shortages and and higher prices due to the upcoming election.
The show was a bit of a disappointment to me because I was looking for some items that I don't believe are being sold on island. So I will have to special order them. But while looking I did find a guy who was selling a couple of Ruger MK1 .22 pistols. One was $300 and the other was $325. On the mainland these would have been sold in the first hour. He still had them before I left. If I didn't hate the way they disassemble I may have bought one of them.

That Henry is killers... Ive been looking at lever action rifles too...

After perusing around the floor I caught a glace of what I thought was the Arsenal SLG 21. Turned out to be an Arsenal SA-M7. The kicker....it was KK's and SpeedTek's table lol. After KK was kind enough to learn me on the rifle and why it's better than the one I wanted in the first place, I happily bought it.
It was awesome meeting you guys! and that zombie chainsaw AR was sick.

Scored couple thousand rounds of my preferred .22 ammo, a couple of 10 round mags for the m1 carbine so I can go to the range guilt-free, a nice set of calipers, and more free food than I could handle! Very nearly bought a model 1917 revolver from a friend, but ended up passing in anticipation of my summer travel rifle binge.
-
Bought a 10/22 mag speed loader and a bore sighter from X-Ring. My friend bought some ammo.
-
Thanks to everyone who came by and harassed KK!!!
Actually he was fun to sit next to for 2 days...

STA- First, mahalo to you and your family for your service and the sacrifices you make. Sorry I didn't introduce myself but I did stop by your table. You and your buddy made me a sweet offer on your Eotech but I don't really need one at this time. Do you have a store? If so, looking forward to buying some stuff when I get a chance. :shaka:
-
^^^ Same here I too stopped by his table and bought the light weight chest rig. I didn't realize he was registered on this site otherwise I would've introduced myself.
Any how Semper Fi Marine!

It is right next to the satellite city hall. (near Foodland)
You should definitely check it out, they have loads of great stuff.

Where were KK and Speedtek? I saw the X-Ring table and the guy next to X-Ring was a guy named Peter with a ponytail.
I was the one behind the chainsaw.....noticed i had it pointed in KKs direction just in case!
I got a deal on a mid length ar barrel. My son ran around buying all the $5 boxes or 9mm and 22lr ammo.
I cant believe he found some boxes of hydrashocks 147gr for $3 each! He was smart to buy them all!!!!
When I came home I passed out......no dreams of KK thank god.....only the rifle I gotta buy off him.....

I was looking at this gun. Congrats on your buy! These ones sell for more than his asking price.

I bought some FGMM 308 from SEC and some XM193 from YG. The pricing of the XM193 wasn't the greatest, but I haven't been able to find any other LGS that carries it right now. I usually buy from OGC when they have their sale, but they are completely out and Carter mentioned that they may not get more in until summer time and he projected that the pricing wouldn't be what they offered it for previously.
My father came with me on Saturday and he bought a box of 44 mag and 45 ACP for two of his pistols and a cheap diving style knife. I would've tried to talk him out of the cheap knife, but he was with my sister at the time. Oh well.
I stopped by X-Ring and Mojo both days. I was joking with the guys at X-Ring about the discount offered with the target. That area seemed to be the most busy the both days that I was there. I was mainly looking for ammo, but I took some time to see what kinds of guns they had displayed. If I had come across an AK underfolder for a good price, that would've been tempting, but I didn't see one.
I also stopped by STA and talked with one of the guys there about products that they carry. I was looking for a Tango Down short VFG, but they mentioned that they didn't bring them to the show and were also out of them in the shop, but they did carry them. I also checked out their Oakle gloves, but the M was too snug and the XL was too big. I'll have to swing by there sometime to check out the L. I will be spending some time this fall on the mainland shooting, so I'm looking for a good pair of gloves.
-
Bought a Glock 26 with 3 mags and night sights for a good price after some haggling. Almost bought some Fenix lights, but my girlfriend put a stop to that real quick.
All-in-all I thought it was a pretty good show, well worth my $11 and 3 hours of time in my opinion.
-
You guys truly motivate me this is what makes so proud to have served my country honorable as Americans speek their rights!!
Mahalo for your sacrifice and service to safeguard us! God bless you and your family. :shaka:

Bought a box of Hornady Zombie ammo in 9mm and .223 at the x-ring booth.
Bought a Fenix PD32 from the Fenix booth
Bought 3 9mm at Young Guns booth.
Bought 5 MRE at some booth with no name
Donated $20 to Funtimes CCW booth.
Bought 2 Zombie Cookie monster patch at Mojo Tactical
9mm Laser bore sighter at the Osprey booth
Wanted to buy some guns especially the semi auto FN SLp or Mossberg 930 spx can't what til the one in October.
-
Cold Steel Kukri Machete and a single box of 9mm JHP for the zombies.
-
Some 12 ga 00 buck and slugs, .38 sp., a great camo cap from Mojo for deer season this year. And finally, made a knife trade that landed me with a DPx Hest 2.0 folder.
Didn't get as much as I'd hoped this year, should have picked up some discounted .22 and 9mm.. Maybe a few more ammo cans. ;)
I think it was a good show this year, though I agree with the issue of there not being much direct competition and not many "super deals"
-
fyi. young guns still have xm193 179/500 rds. but its one case per person per day. that's how much they were selling it at the show and it sold out quick. it's gonna go fast.
-
Wonder if the HPD line will be packed this week.

I love that stuff.

I was strapped to a table so I didn't get the chance to go search for deals.
I got a Huskey sling from Jason at STA Tactical and a Kershaw folder.
This is the least I've spent at a gun show since I was 18 years old.
