My step-dad got a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas but got it taken away when he shot his sister with it.

Then again, it depended on the individuals and their phobias.
Was back visiting relatives in New England early sixties and a step-cousin had a Crosman 600 (CO2 semi-auto .22 pellet pistol) that he managed to jam. Sold it to me and I smuggled it back to SoCal. Figured it out and spent many weekend out in the fields around Playa Del Rey shooting the place up.
Then the step-monster found it and went into orbit. She hated even pea shooters.
The grief I got after using a thawing Thanksgiving turkey for home-made blow gun target practice was epc.
Some people are just plain insane about some things...........

That's what Walter Williams suggested on the Mark Levine show a week ago.

At those prices, I will take one of each. Growing up on Molokai in the 1960s, I would leave my 30-06 behind the seat of my pickup, even when I drove to high school. That gun almost never left the truck unless it was being used. I know several other kids who had high power rifles in their cars at school. No one shot each other or even branished their gun. I think my generation had more sense of right and wrong than the kids today.
