Title: Would Hawaii legislators allow this kind of testimony?
Post by: punaperson on March 02, 2018, 06:46:16 AM
Would Hawaii legislators allow this kind of testimony? It's accurate and factual, but doesn't cast politicians in an admirable light.

Is there a follow up on this?

Funny

Is there a follow up on this?
None that I know of, but here's a guess (based upon history): some council members thought "haha. that was funny"; some thought "what a waste of our time. asshole"; then they unanimously passed another meaningless useless "commonsense gun safety regulation" that would do nothing to effect crime or criminals but would only infringe of the rights of law-abiding firearm owners.

Any actual facts welcome. I'd love to be wrong.

I believe that was when they were trying to ban open carry (except for conceal carry permit holders.  wha???) so as to not scare the snowflakes.  Can remember if it went through or not.

Excellent speech by the gentleman.

They may or may not....

I included testimony that included a video link showing belt loop bump firing, and they cut it out of the testimony.  They do have someone screening them to make sure whatever is being posted is "appropriate" and not inflammatory or threatening or whatever.

I was specifically referring to "in person" oral testimony, as in the video.

Is there a follow up on this?
I found it. Good to know that I was wrong, but note what it took (are we going to have open carry demonstrations here?). Here is a quote from the comment section where someone asked this guy (in the video below) what happened:

After about a 9 month fight including lots of people addressing the Council, protests where we open carried all manner of weapons through the city (I carried my AR15 across my chest on several occasions) the Council killed the ordinance.

They were basically told that if it passed, we'd be out open carry in areas that would most impact their tourist industry. Then they were SHOWN that we would, indeed, do just that.

Several of the Councilors commented that they'd "never seen so many guns in town" since stirring the hornets nest.

Check out his testimony before the council. Not satire or humorous like the other guy, but very good in my opinion. We need someone here with those oratory skills to kick some butt in the legislature,.. if they ever let people testify for more than one minute.
